It is only through visiting the trip advisor site I learnt about this venue.
It is all that the other reviwers said about it and more.
What a fantastic building no wonder the city council are so proud of it that they give free tours!

Following a recommendation on TripAdvisor my friend and I decided to go for the 10.30am (free) tour of Glasgow's City Chambers. What a gem! The tour lasted approximately an hour and Ann, our guide, was informative and humourous. The City Chambers are beautiful and well worth an hour of anyone's time if you enjoy a spot of culture and history combined. The City Chambers has the most wonderful marble staircase, ornate ceilings, beautiful, glass chandeliers and a large, elaborate banqueting hall. A real treasure.

This is one of the most impressive public buildings in the UK. From the elegant entrance hall and on to the magnificent marble staircases leading onto beautiful rooms with ornate ceilings and hardwood panelling. The dignified Council Chamber is panelled in Spanish hardwood.

The Banqueting Hall is very special and the reception rooms are an equally high standard.

The free guided tour, at 1030 and 1430, lasts about 1 hour and was most informative, covering the history of the city to present day issues.

The City Chambers tour receives little publicity and only three other people were in the group with me. I can strongly recommend this tour. It is suitable for young people as well as adults.
