We were advised to visit and what a surprise. You can only visit the ground floor but it is so worth while. The interior is spectacular. We took some time just to drink in everything. Would recommend to all.

they offer a free tour and the guide was very nice and answered all my questions. One of the most incredible buildings in Glasgow. If you are in the city for any length of time, I would suggest seeing the City Chambers.

Marble every where! There are tours but some times the top floors are not included due to meetings and such like. This is a working building.

There are 2 free tours given each day one ay 10:30 am and the other 2:30pm. It only takes 25 people per tour so sign up early. We got our tickets at 11am and then went to see other sites. The building is built around 1897 and cost 4 times over budget. So nothing new, it's the same today if not worse. The use of marble for the 2 main stair cases is breath taking and the woodwork is the same. You get to go in to the council chambers and that's another room where the wood work, windows, fireplaces and seats are beautiful and you can see why they were over budget. This was a wonderful tour.

I thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour of the City Chambers, our guide was knowledgeable, friendly and informative. Fascinating to discover that some of the marble was not what it seemed and that the building has been used as a film set on various occasions representing amongst others the Kremlin and the Vatican. Well worth a visit.
