“A wee gem with very good staff”
Reviewed May 24, 2010

My sister had her wedding at the Scottish Piping Centre and this hotel is in the same building. I found the staff for be very professional and helpful, the food (lunch and throughout the day) to be very nice and the drinks prices reasonable (unlike many venues that inflate their prices for a wedding, the prices are at Glasgow city centre levels). The hotel rooms are basic and could do with some upgrading, but they are charged at B&B prices for a city centre location, so no complaints from me (or any of the other guests staying for the wedding), especially since it was paid for by the bride and groom !

Me and my partner stayed at the Piper's Tryst for a wedding just a few weeks ago and had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Great accomodation, great service and really great food.

We had travelled up for a wedding which was also being held in the building on the Saturday - but on the Friday night we enjoyed a fantastic taste of Scottish cuisine - I couldnt resist the sea bass and even my partner's daughter, who is a very picky eater, was chuffed with her child sized portion of fish and chips.

Our room was small but had excellent you would expect for the price. Their largest rooms are only twins but they had already set up an extra camp bed before we arrived. Only thing I would warn is payment is on arrival - so make sure to have your wallet ready (mine was burried at the bottom of my suitcase!) but the room was very reasonable and a great place to crash after the busy wedding.

Breakfast is continental, with an option of a cooked breakfast - which although you do have to pay extra for - is well worth it - especially the morning after the night before! The staff could not have been more helpful - always smiling and attentive and seemingly filled with knowledge on their menu and the buliding.

A great wee Scottish experience - i would highly recommend.

During a recent business trip to Glasgow I stayed at the Pipers' Tryst hotel for 3 nights and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Upon arrival after a long journey the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. I stayed in room 7 which has a great view of Glasgow from the window, the room was very comfortable and clean.

I dined in the resstaurant on 2 evenings during my stay and must say the fish of day was incredible. So good I ate it on both evenings! Well worth the money too.

I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Glasgow, it is a place you can truly relax and feel well taken care of. I look forward to going back soon.

I spent two nights here while attending a conference down the road. It is small - just eight rooms above a very good restaurant. Location is great - only 5 or 10 minutes from shops, theatres, station. The Theatre Royal is just across the street, so make sure you book for dinner in plenty of time if there's something on. It is not luxurious - couldn't open the window, heating working overtime, but very clean, super-comfy bed and really everything you needed. I would definitely stay here again. The price is fair and it's individual: as a fellow visitor said, it doesn't suck the soul out of you. The staff couldn't have been more friendly, kind and informative, the food was superb for the price and people-watching at breakfast time a treat. It was great to see families from all over coming to learn the pipes. mingling with business people having a working breakfast.

The staff, the location and the atmosphere are excellent. I have stayed at the Piper's tryst on many occasions, travelling alone, with collegues and with my wife, and on every occasion we have all been delighted with the service given in this small, very professionally run, friendly Hotel.
It's location ,in Theatreland adds to the range of clientel,it's proximity to the Subway, major transport links of both 'bus and train, and less than800m from the Motorway , make it ideal for business and leisure.
the small downside is parking, but there are 2 secure car parks in close proximity.

We rolled up looking for a room with no reservation, the staff in the bar were very helpful in arranging a room for us. The room was quite small but contained everything you'd expect, lovely sheets, comfy bed, chair, table, TV, hospitality tray.

The bathroom was not quite so great, the grout was going brown and there was an amount of gunk round taps and fittings that I could easily clean away with a face wipe so it wasn't ingrained. But it wasn't enough to be truly offputting.

We chose to have dinner in the restaraunt at the hotel and it was good, starter was superb, main was good but dessert seemed to be bought in which was disappointing.

All in all the hotel has a superb location and excellent value for money. I would definitnely stay again.

Staff - excellent. Extremely helpful and polite.

Food - excellent. Mostly traditional Scottish fare but very well made and presented. The pre-theatre dinner was very good value. Good fresh food, very classy.

Decor / theme - tastefully tartan, as I say. Don't go way overboard in order to appeal to tourists, it's very comfortable and retains plenty of Scottish charm.

Location - easy walking distance to shops, theatres, etc. Don't believe there was on-site parking but think we saw an NCP or similar nearby.

Rooms - not huge, but perfectly adequate. Nicely furnished and clean. What else do you need?
