A Very Gracious Stay

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 7, 2019
Sherbrooke castle is just outside of Glasgow and perfect if you don’t want to drive into town. We had a lovely large room on the 2nd floor, with a small sitting area and a large bathroom. There is a nice dining room and the meals are very good and reasonable. They also have room service until quite late, so if you arrive after dinner, you can still get soup and sandwiches, and wine! We left our car and took the train in, the hotel is a two block walk to the station, and Central station where you can get buses etc is the next stop. We found out very easy and convenient and we did it have to worry about trying to park in town, rarely saw an open spot, npr did we have to rush back to put money in a meter.

Stayed here recently, more than £100 for B&B per night. The hotel is dire need of investment/refurbishment, the whole place is tired and in parts grubby. There are far better places to stay in Glasgow, will not be returning to this hotel.

Dear BenF640,

Thank you for taking the time to review us. We pride ourselves on our guests experiences and we are disappointed to read your review. The accommodation pricing is based on various factors such as occupancy level, average selling rate and based on competitiors within the city, and as we are one of the few hotels that includes breakfast, on site parking and wifi within our rate we feel we are competitively priced.

We are surprised by your comments as we have recently completed a refurbishment programme of the hotel including public areas and bedrooms. If you are able to provide further information this would be appreciated, please email customerservice@sherbrookecastlehotel.com so that we may look in to your comments further.

We had the perfect wedding day at Sherbrooke Castle. William was a brilliant master of ceremony, the food was delicious and all our guests had a brilliant time. Nothing was too much trouble, everyone went over and above to make sure we had the best wedding day.

My wife and I were both married here on the 27th of July and what a day we had. William our wedding co ordinator went above and beyond for us. Nothing was too much hassle or a problem. He kept us right all day. An amazing gem of a man who’s customer service and attitude is something I’d like to see more places follow. The food was absolutely amazing with portions so big even the biggest of guests struggled. Again the staff were quick and courteous but never intrusive. Sherbrooke castle was the 3rd place my wife and I viewed before booking our wedding. And in all honesty. In comparison to other places we have been too as guests Sherbrooke blows them all out of the water. So clean, food amazing, bar fully stocked and if like me you enjoy a bud light mind and let them know in advance and you’ll have bud light there for you to enjoy. Above and beyond. To William, Claire and all the staff at Sherbrooke castle hotel. Thank you for making our wedding exactly how we dreamed. To anyone even considering Sherbrooke castle. Go visit it. Speak to William. You’ll fall in love with the staircase the way we did. The views from the tea room. The cool air blowing through the conservatory. 5/5 or 10/10 whatever scale you use. Sherbrooke castle hotel is top marks all the way. Thank you

The new Mr & Mrs Murphy xx

What a fabulous stay! The staff were adorable and the food delicious. We hadn’t intended on a 3 course meal at 9.30pm but enjoyed a haggis starter which was ‘fused’ within filo like a wonton and set to sea in a whisky sauce. Scottish sea bream next still flapping I think on its waves of carrot and courgette ribbons in a lightly scented orange sauce, followed by raspberry Clanachan - glazed perfectly and set on a buttery shortbread. We are in heaven. Our room is big. We have a turret corner! Like children we nestle inside and nibble on a Tunnocks caramel wafer served on the in-room tea tray. Of course there are elements that this is a big castle style hotel so there are some DIY jobs but they were under control, modernised (great showed!) and all was calm. If I stay in Glasgow it will be at the Sherbrooke. We notice they do weddings too - not on our night but you might want to check if there is one when you are staying. Looks perfect for a 50-60 guest do.

Castle 10 mins drive from Glasgow airport that takes dogs too, although the castle isn’t that dog friendly the dog friendly rooms are lovely, clean and spacious.
As we didn’t want to leave the dog in the room and they don’t allow dogs in the restaurant they were happy to serve the full a Le carte menu in our room.
The food was spectacular.
I’d definitely come back here again.
