We have stayed here on two weekends recently and I would thoroughly recommend it.
It is very easy to get to on the bus from the airport - bus stops one block away going to hotel and about 30 yds away heading back. Tip - get return ticket at £8.50 rather than singles at £6 each.
The welcome at reception is second to none. Check in is efficient and friendly - we were greeted by a lovely girl called Kerry and at other times found Colm exceptionally helpful.
The lobby area is very welcoming and has a great smell of coffee. This is a pleasant area to have a drink or cocktail before heading out.
The rooms are lovely. We were in 419 and 317. Nicely decorated, big comfy bed, good tv with range of channels, magazines, good air con and window opens if you want that, free mini bar with water, coke, lemonade, small wine, beer, crisps and caramel wafers. Cafetiere coffee, tea etc.
The bathroom is good with a super big shower and the toiletries are the White House and are actually lovely. I used the body lotion and liked it so much I brought the spare one home. Several people have commented on how nice it smells.
The wifi works easily. The breakfast was included the first time and was fine. Second time we went across the road to Panini's and had a great brekky which was very good value.
There is a pub across the road - the Admiral, and Rhoderick Dhu and another bar about 50 yds away. At the bottom if the street is Grand Central Station - which has a nice champagne bar. That takes you to Hope St with several wee bars. 26 Hope St has super live music on a Saturday afternoon.
The Corinthian is also worth a visit and well within walking distance, as is Merchant City.
There is an M&S food store also nearby and we stocked our fridge with fruit salad for mornings and some wine for later! The hotel is also handy enough for open top bus tour and for all the great shopping.
We found Glasgow to be good value for food and drink. While it may not be everyone's cup of tea there are a number of Wetherspoons around and they do a bottle of Moet for £31 - a snip, and Villa Maria for £13
All in all this hotel is a great spot and I have no doubt we will be back for a third time soon!
