Description: Floating on the mezzanine overlooking the main restaurant at The Ubiquitous Chip, The Brasserie offers inventive and wholesome bistro-style dining with the same integrity and commitment to good quality food as the main dining area. Set over the top level of The Chip and offering everything from all day brunch at the weekend, quick midweek lunches and leisurely evening dinners, The Brasserie menu is as diverse as it's surroundings. Like the original restaurant opened back in the 1970s, The Brasserie at the Ubiquitous Chip is on a mission to keep Scottish food and Scottish producers firmly on the culinary map. Using nasturtiums and tomatoes grown on our own mezzanine, Inverurie beef, Seil Island crab, Loch Melfort mussels and Ramsay's of Carluke's pork belly - we offer you the best of what Scotland has to offer in a magical space.

“Really nice lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2013

I had been checking out the menus at Ubiquitous Chip for years online while daydreaming about someday visiting Scotland. Their food always sounded so wonderfully intriguing, so I was thrilled to finally be eating there. It did not disappoint. I had a venison and port sausage with beetroot and red cabbage, and my husband had salmon sandwich and a cup of soup. The sandwich and soup combo sounded rather pedestrian to me until I tasted it. Both were really remarkable, a clear cut or two above the norm. The haggis starter was also incredibly tasty. The restaurant space, with all sorts of potted plants around, was very nice as well.

“Nice food but an apology wouldn't have gone amiss”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2013 via mobile

Went for a family birthday meal which was lovely. The setting is beautiful and the added flourish of beautiful breads, small things to try etc was very tasty and entertaining. However confident in their knowledge the staff served the 3 steaks that had been ordered by the table without confirming how they were cooked which meant 2 of them were wrong. When we pointed this out, after we had poured sauces of the steaks and started we didn't get an apology or even an offer of re cooking. In fact we got looked at if it was our fault. I won't be back.

Great Menu - had the Venison Haggis as a Main Course - Truly Excellent. As were the Starters, Puddings and Wine.

Waiter was knowledgable, friendly and efficient. A great evening out. Love the decor and ambiance there.

“Great local food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2013

Refined food but definitely rooted in Scottish soil. One thing I was missing: beer. A very nice wine menu at affordable prices, but, let's face it, wine is not a local product is it? Will go back though!
