My mum and had a meal at Opium on 26 October 2011. We were recommended the restaurant by our hotel and it turned out to be a great choice.
We were seated quickly in a cosy corner of the restaurant. The atmosphere was welcoming without being too forward and the noise level was at a nice hum.
For our starter I had a satay won ton and they were delicious with a nice kick, perfect portion size. My mum had dim sum which was beautifully presented and had a lovely delicate flavour, again portion size was perfect.
For main course I had the Thai chicken curry, it was tender and very tasty with a nice kick too it, but not so hot that I couldn't enjoy it. Mum had Chicken Hondoros (I think!), again this had a tasty flavour and was beautifully cooked. Portion size was again perfect. I had a side of rice which came crammed into a little wooden pot, very quirky and mum had noodles. Portion size for both was again spot on.
Not content with having cleared our plates for both starter and main course, we ordered dessert, and were very glad we did. I had merangue which was a sugar hit, stick to the teeth affair - absolutely perfect, and mum had deep fried ice-cream which she said was deliciious.
We were given the choice to wait for our food throughout our meal if we needed a rest and didn't feel like we were being rushed.
The staff were very pleasant and were happy to chat with us. The premises were very clean and the pricing wasn't too bad. Would definitely revisit this restaurant and wouldn't hesistate to recommend it.
