My wife and I stayed here for our first three nights in Scotland. We arrived late, quick check in with polite staff and found our room to be very clean. The location is perfect for downtown walking, catching the subway or a bus. We liked the option of having breakfast brought to our room early each morning before we started a day of sight seeing in Glasgow. The room had air conditioning but it did not work 100%. However the room had a fan and that took care of it. There was a small refrigerator in our room with complimentary drinks, a nice change from having to pay $3-$5 for a bottle of water at a hotel in the USA. The Windows Restaurant on the roof of the hotel building has some nice views, food was ok but make it was a bit hot when we had dinner.

Room tip: Make sure to get a room with a view. Our view was an interior room with a view of other hotel guest windows.

We stayed at the Carlton George at the beginning of our month long visit to Scotland. We had trouble checking in but I believe the problem was with the particular staff members inexperience. A special thanks to a complete stranger offering us her room. She would return later when our room was ready, as she was heading out to tour the shops. We had just arrived on a trans Atlantic flight and gratefully accepted. The rest of our stay was wonderful and the room and hotel is very charming.

Dear AAMcH. Thank you for the lovely review. I am so pleased you had a good stay with us. I am sorry about the issue which occurred on your arrival, very lucky to have another guest give up their room for your. We do try to give early arrivals rooms if we can, but this is not always possible. Glad it didn't impact your stay. Kind regards Monica

We booked this hotel because of its location, but were pleasantly surprised by the level of service provided by the staff. Our group had ordered special meals to be delivered for our trip, and the restaurant made an error in its delivery. The staff was caring and extremely helpful in remedying our compliment. A sincere thank you to Kirsty, Debra, and Natalie for all their assistance.

Dear dojb881. Thank you for your lovely review. I am delighted the team were so helpful, when you special dietary meals, didn't arrive as they should from another restaurant. The girls are very pleased with their personal mention, so thank you for taking the time to do this. Hope we see you again soon. Kind regards Monica

Right next to Queen St. Station, the Carlton George has all of the pluses and minuses of a hotel located in the middle of a city. On the upside, it was easy to wheel our luggage from the terminal to the hotel; the hotel is smack dab in the middle of Glasgow's best strolling and shopping areas; no shortage of restaurants and bars (including one massive one attached to the hotel); reasonably well appointed rooms with comfortable bedding and complimentary liquor, soft drinks and snacks in the room; nice restaurant at the top of the hotel with good views; and pleasant "Executive Lounge" with cocktails and snacks in comfortable surroundings. Downsides: the Queen St. Rail Station is under construction, and the work goes on all night; the noise was abundant all night; our room also had cooking smells from the restaurants down below. Staff was pleasant, and allowed us to borrow UK electrical converters/adapters. Overall, once the railway construction is done, this will be the best place to stay in central Glasgow.

Dear KrazyKat63. Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. I am glad overall you seemed to enjoyed your stay with us. I am sorry however you had been disturbed by the works at Queen Street Station, I am not sure if you advised us at the time to see if we were able to move you? Hope that wouldn't deter you from using us in the future. Kind regards Monica
