Have stayed here on several occasions over the years but boy is it in DIRE need of some attention.
carpets faded, well worn and not the cleanest. Broken tiles in the bathroom and paint peeling from surrounds.
Very poor quality glazing which totally fails to keep out street noise......not helpful when you are next to a casino!
Breakfasts very basic and to be honest I have had better from street vendors.
Fish for lunch one day probably would have made a good weapon to hit and enemy over the head with.

Hey you get the picture!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review on your stay at the Mercure Glasgow City hotel.

I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay at the hotel. Certainly poor standards of housekeeping and maintenance are not acceptable and I have passed on your comments to both teams for immediate redress to prevent future occurrence.

The Mercure Hotel is one of the best hotels ive stayed in. Very friendly and helpful staff, also very high standards of cleanliness. The hotel was spotless! I would definetly go back to this hotel. The room i was in was lovely, very comfortable and enough space for two. The only dissappointment was the view out our window wasnt very nice or clean but other than that the hotel was perfect.

Our room on the first night of our recent two night stay wasn't great - room 602, very tiny with noise from the nearby lift. In the morning we asked if we could have a larger, quieter room and this was provided by the time we had finished our breakfast and was much nicer, although still not huge! Due to the size of the rooms most beds are standard doubles, which was a bit different as we are used to a king sized one at home and most hotels seem to have those now.
However, the breakfast was good with some items cooked to order, such as smoked haddock and poached eggs as well as the usual buffet selection of hot and cold items. All the staff we met were lovely. So although it isn't perfect (where is?) we would stay again as the staff try really hard to please and the location is excellent if you want to be in the city centre.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are supposed to be larger with bigger beds. Avoid ones near the lift.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your review and comments on your stay at the Mercure Glasgow City hotel.

As the hotel is an older building, the room sizes can vary however, we rarely get complaints that they are inadequate.

I am pleased that you enjoyed your breakfast and I do hope to welcome you back to the hotel in the future.

Kind regards
