Stayed one night here and no complaints at all. Clean, friendly staff (especially at breakfast), good brekkie, great location. Park, art gallery, bus links, good restaurants (try Mother India for a top notch curry) and close to town. Bed comfy and a good nights sleep. Would definitely stay sgain.

Stayed here for three nights and found the hotel staff friendly, room clean and very spacious (ended up with a family sized room for just two of us!)', and tasty breakfast with a range of options! The breakfast room staff are very nice and conscientious. Highly recommend cooked porridge which they will make with water or milk, as per your request.
The barman, Lawrie, in the hotel bar called Sutherland's is genial guy who draws a fine pint of St Mungo's lager, a locally brewed, crisp and thirst quenching antidote to long days of city walking and Scottish country dancing. They have Gaelic lessons on Friday nights that draw in a small but committed group of locals and a piper often shows up.
The hotel is a very short walk from Kelvingrove Park and museum. walk through the park to U of Edinburgh and the Hunterian Gallery.
A 15 minute walk to good eating. Try Number 16 on Byers Rd where the chef and many of the serving staff are from the isle of Arran. Try the scallops and save room for the housemade ice creams. From there walk up to Ashton Lane to see the street that time forgot. Also lots of curry options near the Argyll like Mother of India and Ashoka.
Several frequent buses to take you to centre of town.
No bath tub, only shower. Clean but a slightly bad door in the bathroom. A minor thing as the pluses outweighed it.

Room Tip: If you are troubled by noise! Ask for a room at the back of hotel so you won't hear street level...

This was a great little hotel. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the room spacious, clean and comfortable- everything in working order. The breakfast was great, with a wide selection and good service. It's also a very convenient location, 15 mins walk into central city, right near parks and good transport links to the airport via bus.

Compelled to give the staff a good shout at The Argyll. Without a doubt for the price and location of the Hotel this is one of the best budget hotels I have come across in the UK. 15 Minute walk from Town centre, The setting while basic are of a very good standard for the tariff, clean and a good shower / hot water supply alongside a comfy bed to rest up. Very good staff and an exceptional buffet breakfast that was well above expectation. For a budget hotel I would happily recommend the Argyll and will stay here again!

Great little hotel that fitted the bill! The first impressions are of a reasonable budget hotel. The best two aspects about the hotel was firstly the attitude of the staff and their desire to help out. The breakfast was the other being one of the better I have experienced in my travels. Furnishings are reasonable and nothing needed replacing. The bathroom was in good order and the beds reasonable.

if you're looking for a budget hotel this is good value in a good spot, especially for the university or the secc. staff are pleasant and breakfast was fine, if basic and in a crowded room but the rooms are very dated, basic and tired. bathroom was ancient and really needed replacing. while it was basically clean corners and toilet seat fittings were grimey - so if you like a spotless bathroom, not for you. I must admit I won't be going back.
