Walked straight back out. View of the hospital which made us feel we were in one initially put us off. The decor was depressing but worse of all were the awful beds. Not only uncomfortable with very poor quality pillows the mattress cover was gross covered in stains and only fit for disposal . Yuk!

We stayed here last January, since then it appears to have been neglected. The carpets, bathrooms, walls etc are dirty. Towels old and grey. Our room was beside the lift and staff were apologising before we even got into the room. Changing the next day was total confusion. Wrong key, wrong room. Breakfast was £10 poor quality. Coffee/tea machines! £80 pn is excessive for such poor standards. Will not be back.

My husband and I live in the outskirts of Glasgow but recently booked into the Pond Hotel for a weekend together. The rooms were lovely and homely, the service from the staff was excellent, along with being afforable and value for money.

Would return again!

We stayed here over the Easter weekend, the second time for my husband. When we arrived the hotel was very busy and there was only one reception person available who was also trying to deal with other things at the same time as checking people in.

The room we were given was spotless but very small for a double and was probably better suited as a single , in fact it was smaller than the room given to my husband when he stayed alone 3 weeks earlier on buisness.

We were overlooking the front of the hotel and had the humming of the extractor fans continuously throughout the day and night - not a problem during the day as we were not in except for short periods but disturbing during the night.

Since the hotel was full there was no opportunity to change rooms. Having said this, the staff were helpful and friendly and we would consider staying here again as the parking is free and plentiful.

I stayed in this hotel due to its proximity to an event I was attending. We paid on average £55 a night so I expected a fairly basic clean hotel which it was. The staff were pleasant and so everything was looking good.

The room was quite compact which is what I had expected but the difficulty was that there was far too much furniture in the room so there was always something in the way if you wanted to do anything (such as go the bathroom).

Other than this the room was more than satisfactory, the bathroom was pleasant and the decor nice. Sleeping in the room wasn't ideal as the room was excessively hot day and night - something which appeared common to other rooms - and the mattress was pretty poor (saggy with hard ribbed sides). Opening the window wasn't an option as a noisy heating plant was underneath the window.

Breakfast was quite dear at £10 a head for which I expected quite a spread. However on the second morning there was practically no food as all the cooked breakfast items were missing. They were eventually replenished after 5-10 mins but if you charge £10 there needs to be some food available when people arrive. We'd stayed in the Premier Inn the night before and their breakfast selection included the option of soya milk and porridge. There were no such options here.

On the morning we checked-out neither of the lifts were working so we had to carry our suitcases down the stairs which was far from ideal. Luckily this was simply an inconvenience for us but appeared more problematic for the person I met carrying a child and a buggy down the stairs.

Overall we concluded that we had preferred our stay in the Premier Inn as it was a nicer place to sleep and have breakfast despite the Pond being a more refined hotel.

Booked this hotel for a girls weekend, great value for money, in a nice area if you dont want to be right in the city centre which was very easy to get to anyway. Very clean and very nice staff! Would definately stay here again, great Italian bistro next door!

Good location in the west end and buses and trains going into city centre all the time. Breakfasts were great. Staff were very polite and friendly. Nice, modern comfortable room and I would have given the review five stars if we were staying in a non-smoking room. We were given a smoking room and were told that we might be able to change the next day to a non-smoking one but we had a busy morning the day after and we had to get ready for a wedding so didn't have time to change. Smoking rooms are a bit pongy for non-smokers. On booking we weren't given the option on what kind of room we wanted but in future (we will stay again) I'll definately be requsting a non-smoking room.

Room Tip: Remember and request a smoking / non-smoking room!
