What a place, it's so full of life and vibrant. Great shops, good places to eat and plenty of characters to see. A must visit place.

I was born and brought up in Glasgow but moved to the east coast in my early 20s. I return to Glasgow for concert visits mainly and to visit family. In my youth Suchiehall Street and Buchanan Street were the places to visit, shop and be seen. Buchanan Street still retains that special something but Sauchehall Street is such a let down. Fortunately you can avoid using it by sticking to Bath Street when heading back to the centre from the Mitchell Library or Theatre. I recall great times on Sauchiehall Street as a student in the 60s but not in 2014. It no longer has character and I have never seen so many less than average shops squeezed together in one long street in any city anywhere in the world. This once proud city street is no more. Thankfully Glasgow has other great locations like the Merchant City, Buchanan Street and the new areas around Anderston but Sauchiehall Street is written off as a city feature of the past and not the present. So very sad.

A once vibrant and exciting city street that now displays tired aspects and a distinct lack of interest.
Glasgows only attractive shopping street is now Buchanan st with its new shops and bustling side roads.

The city planners really do need to walk along Sauchiehall street and take in the 70s decor, grey paving, dull shops and decrepit outlook.

The only good thing it provides these days is the access to other areas. Well past its best and something we should be ashamed about.
