Owner description: Self-guided walking tour maps are available from George Square Tourist Office of Merchant City, now a vibrant historic cafe quarter and designer-shopping mecca. Highlights of this tour, which dates back to medieval times, include the grand neo-classical halls and Georgian townhouses built for Glasgow's rich tobacco barons and shipping merchants.

A great advert for Glasgow - a nicer type of person and venue - an amazing choice of every type of food and drink along with good atmosphere

An excellent place to find good food and drinks. Particularly like the old Candleriggs market, it's a great place to pretend you're stting out Al Fresco

Great place to go for a night out with family or friends. There are plenty of good restaurants in the area and good bars to choose from. The price varies from average to expensive.

A very clean area of Glasgow :) Loads of designers shop and small cafe/restaurants. A relatively quiet area compare to Central and Queen Street of Glasgow. Most of the shops in Merchant City are quite expensive, especially the hairdressers! But it is a nice place to live in if you want to stay in Glasgow.

Thank Anna M
