Owner description: Self-guided walking tour maps are available from George Square Tourist Office of Merchant City, now a vibrant historic cafe quarter and designer-shopping mecca. Highlights of this tour, which dates back to medieval times, include the grand neo-classical halls and Georgian townhouses built for Glasgow's rich tobacco barons and shipping merchants.

The merchant city has a vast selection of Restuarant's to suit all tastes, and afterwards a selection of pubs and wine bars to suit all tastes, well worth a visit for a great atmosphere

The Merchant City in Glasgow houses some of the most upscale collections of fashion in Europe. If you have taste, you'll find bags of treasures here.

If you're just pottering around getting your bearings of the city, the Merchant's Quarter is a good place to start. It's easy to miss if you stop wandering at the natural barrier of Buchannan Street. Keep going though and you will find some interesting boutique shops, good value cafes and some beautiful Georgian architecture.

Excellent for a good night out. Many different pubs with entertainment and live bands. Many restaurants but would book beforehand as it can be very busy. Not far from Queen Street station so location perfect.
