Owner description: Self-guided walking tour maps are available from George Square Tourist Office of Merchant City, now a vibrant historic cafe quarter and designer-shopping mecca. Highlights of this tour, which dates back to medieval times, include the grand neo-classical halls and Georgian townhouses built for Glasgow's rich tobacco barons and shipping merchants.

Fantastic deals within all of the bars and restaurants. Lovely individual craft fair stalls. We have eaten within 5 of the restaurants now and are going back this weekend to Fratellis. Metropollitan has lovely cocktails and an extensive wine list.
Great atmosphere you actually think you are abroad.

Thank catherine l

Lots to do here in terms of Pubs/Eating/market place. The atmosphere in the Merchant City is friendly and great fun all year round.

This is one of my favourite places in Glasgow. The buildings are just great. Can find a bunch of good restaurants and bars. Always good atmosphere. Little posh some times...

I like the good selections of different pubs and restaurants, from Spanish to Mexican etc. O Neills have live bands during the weekend, (drinks are reasonable price) if you fancy somewhere nice and cozy, go to the metropolitan bar upstairs at the piano bar. (drinks are a bit pricey though) Arta is also good for a night club-they have nice restaurants upstairs, nice bar and a disco downstairs. Where you have to pay for an entrance fee of course.

Style Mile and Berrits & Brown....plenty of bars and other places to eat but for local food & good wine, head to Berrits & Brown. The platters are superb!
