“Absolutely fantastic staff”
Reviewed December 6, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here on a particularly horrendous weekend (helicopter crash) I can only say the staff at this hotel were great and worked so hard to make sure their guests were alright in exceptionally bad circumstances!!! Well done !! We will definitely be back again !!!!

Stayed here on a recent trip to Glasgow. Couple of minutes walk from city centre. Excellent staff at check in. First impressions very good. Clean hotel. Room was more than adequate. Breakfast was self service buffet - cereal, toast, rolls, pastries, croissants, sausages, scrambled egg, beans, yogurt, fruit, cheese, coffee/tea, fruit juice ...........
Slightly somber atmosphere all around due to the tragic helicopter crash into the pub directly across the road. Our room overlooked the site but as hotel was fully booked we couldn't change rooms. Will def stay here again. Double room with breakfast on Saturday night £58.

I stayed over the weekend at the Holiday Inn with my husband. When we returned to the hotel on Friday, it was to the shocking scene of the Clutha bar helicopter crash. The staff at the Holiday Inn continued to be helpful, supportive and positive throughout the weekend, dealing with a very difficult time for everyone. Thank you.

I am catching up on my reviews, but just want to stay I had a great stay at this hotel for a couple of nights recently. The staff were great during our stay. They deserve enormous praise, as does the hotel, for the extraordinarily positive way they reacted when the police helicopter crashed into the pub opposite. Well done all on a terrible night

This well appointed hotel is a gem. Okay a Holiday Inn Express is exactly as what you read on the tin, but it is the staff that make it exceptional. Everyone is so genuinely helpful and friendly.
We had a great short-term visit and will look forward to our return to Glasgow and will definitely book in to this hotel.
Thanks for making our stay so enjoyable.

Room Tip: Ask for a room to the back in order to eliminate traffic noise.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Glasgow City Center Riverside, Glasgow over the weekend arriving Saturday at 9:30pm. Check was efficient professional and very friendly.(Thank you Agnes) Our room was very well laid out and as this was a 3 Star budget hotel we were pleasantly surprised it was so spacious. the room was very clean as was the bathroom. (shower only)
Discounted parking was available 1 minute from the hotel. Location of the hotel is good for shopping streets of Glasgow. Although there is a forlorn outside area you are quickly (5 mins) from the main center. Next door is a very pleasant looking Italian. We went into the Scotia bar which is very authentic friendly Scottish pub recommend it. Music on Saturday at the Scotia pub.
Breakfast buffet was well stocked and a good start to our day. After a day at the football and quick change at the hotel the concierge order us a taxi for SECC for the Andrea Bocelli concert. We had a night cap at the hotel bar each evening which is modern but nice. Iain took very good care of us and is a very friendly person who has an excellent knowledge of Glasgow and a very obvious amount of experience and professionalism. Even some late night giddy football fans staying at the hotel were dealt with in a that should be used as a training resource for hotel staff.Calmly discreetly and effective. Iain was described by other staff as "our superstar" as they say some people just have it. This is a budget 3 star hotel not pretending to be anything else. But in my experience the best. It will be my hotel of choice on my next visit to Glasgow.
Thanks to all the staff. Doing a great job.

Room Tip: We were at the front quiet not a lot of traffic. We had 335 if that helps.

The hotel is situated on the water front and was a 10 minute walk from Queen Street station.

The area one block back from the hotel towards the city centre was a little shabby but the view of the river makes up for the tired buildings behind the hotel.

The welcome was friendly and efficient at reception, my room was well appointed on the first floor. Someone had messed about with the tv and I couldn't get the subtitles off but it wasn't end of the world!

The bathroom was clean with a large shower (Shame there was no bath but hey ho!) and as I Forgot my toiletries it was a bonus to have shower gel and hands soap dispensers on the wall.

The breakfast in the morning was good. Pastries, cereals, fruits and a small cooked breakfast selection (scrambled eggs, sausages, mushroom and tomatoes).

I'd definitely stay here as it is very close to the city centre and key transport links.
