“Behind the scenes”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2012

Well, I thought I knew my own country pretty well until I arranged a trip with "Ricki the Celtic Guide". Along with my brothers I was treated to a weekend of hidden sites and great food in the Highlands. Ricki looked like a true Celt with his pale complexion, ginger hair and of course the kilt. He kept us going with stories which were clearly a mixture of history and myth. Nothing was too much trouble for him. We had a fantastic time despite the weather and look forward to seeing more of our country in this way.

“Great day in Scotland”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2012

We only had a weekend in Scotland and booked a day with Ricki. We trusted his advice on what to see on our short visit. He took us to Stirling castle, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National park, with a few bonus sites. He picked us up at our Glasgow hotel and gave us a quick tour of the city. When he dropped us off in Edinburgh, he showed us around there as well. The tour was a great value and Ricki is an excellent guide. He also very kindly exchanged many emails with us before booking to answer a lot of questions I highly recommend About Scotland!

We had wonderful tours with Ricki in Edinburgh and Glasgow , Scotland. He was highly professional, knowledgable, and so pleasant to spend the days with as we toured castles and the beautiful countryside of Scotland. We highly recommend him to anyone planning to visit these two cities or surrounding area. Scotland was an amazing country and we had such a great time on our tours. You will not be disappointed!

“Great One Day Tour!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2012

We originally booked our tour with a different guide, but when that guide had to cancel, he referred us to Ricki. We couldn't have been happier with the tour and our time spent with Ricki. He picked us up at our flat right on time and his vehicle was spacious and comfortable. He was very knowledgeable about history and his tour was excellent. He was friendly and pleasant to chat with. He took us to Stirling Castle and accompanied us to the ticket window to suggest that we purchase the Historic Scotland Explorer Pass. (This pass was a great price and we were able to use it for admission to Edinburgh Castle and Inchcolm Abbey later in the week. It was a great bargain and we saved money buy purchasing this pass instead of just regular admission to Stirling Castle.) After leaving Stirling Castle, he took us to Doune Castle. Along the way we traded quotes from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Since our group included adults and children, Ricki made sure that our 4 year old son got a chance to meet Hamish the Highland Coo on our way to Loch Lommond. He suggested a nice pub for lunch. The weather was less than ideal, off and on rain and clouds, but Ricki made sure that we saw beautiful views, inspite of the weather. In fact, he seemed more upset than we were about the weather. His pride in and love for the beautiful Scots countryside was evident. On the way back to Edinburgh, he did mind an extra stop - out of the way - so that we could get a closer look at the Wallace Monument. He even went out of his way to drop us of in New Town Edinburgh, rather that at our flat when we asked him to.

Thanks for a wonderful day, Ricki! We would definitely tour with Ricki again and strongly recommend him!

“Amazing day trip around Western Scotland”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2012

Based on Trip Advisor reviews, we booked a full day tour, 8 AM to 5PM, to see as much of the sites of Western Scotland as was practical. We had specified a tour just for the four of us, and he delivered as promised - a very roomy and comfortable SUV and Ricki outfitted in a kilt. He took us to Stirling Castle, Wallace Monument then over the mountains to Loch Lomand where we had a delicious lunch in a historic pub/restaurant. That is what we had arranged before our trip, but since we didn't spend much time at any of the places, he also took us to the Glasgow Cathedral, to a Scotch Distillery and gave us time to shop in a couple of quaint towns. Most importanly, he treated us like we were friends and made it easy to talk with him just as if we'd known him for a long time. He has a great sense of humor and went out of his way to share his amazing knowledge of the history, sites, and culture of this beautiful country. We highly recommend Ricki and his tour of Western Scotland.
