We caught the train from Glasgow Central to Pollokshaw West which was very easy and cheap.
The enterence to the park is about a 2 minute walk from the train station. It was a lovely way to spend time in the Glasgow heat wave walking up the tree lined path which probably took half an hour. The estate is beautiful and free; you have to pay to go in Pollok House but I thought it was reasonable at £6.50 and £3.50 for an excellent guide book.
The house was very interesting with lots of art and some Chinese ivory carvings that particularly amazed us.
One of the attendants told us a lot of interesting information about the Maxwell family and the paintings on display.
Here and there audio books give information at the press of a button.
We had a lovely meal in the kitchen reasurant but be warned you have to book in advance of your visit for an afternoon tea.
A thoroughly enjoyable day.
