We caught the train from Glasgow Central to Pollokshaw West which was very easy and cheap.

The enterence to the park is about a 2 minute walk from the train station. It was a lovely way to spend time in the Glasgow heat wave walking up the tree lined path which probably took half an hour. The estate is beautiful and free; you have to pay to go in Pollok House but I thought it was reasonable at £6.50 and £3.50 for an excellent guide book.

The house was very interesting with lots of art and some Chinese ivory carvings that particularly amazed us.

One of the attendants told us a lot of interesting information about the Maxwell family and the paintings on display.

Here and there audio books give information at the press of a button.

We had a lovely meal in the kitchen reasurant but be warned you have to book in advance of your visit for an afternoon tea.

A thoroughly enjoyable day.

Terrific walks and nice river. Too many cars disobeying speed limit. Top park in Europe in 2007. The gardens are vast and well maintained. Pollok House is an interesting museum.

Lovingly tended and just wonderful to take a stroll in. A different face of Glasgow, well worth seeing.
