I went here mainly to visit a painting which had been a favourite of my mother's. I found a treasure trove of objects in a very accessible format. I also enjoyed the fact that the space was being used by artists to draw and sketch the artworks. The restaurant downstairs was efficient and friendly.

There was an interesting range of displays and not what we expected. However, there were some hidden gems and the gallery has a good number of famous works of art by people like Lowery and Constable

We came to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery by subway to Hillhead and then a short walk. It is a magnificent building and our interest was mainly art. We were able to see paintings from the Colourists, Glasgow Boys, Dutch, French Impressionists and of course Dali's Christ of St John of the Cross. This was absolutely wonderful. There was also a section of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's furniture. Entrance is free but one can leave a donation.

We spent about two and a half hours here just browsing paintings. When we finished we had some lunch in the cafe which was not overpriced. Would definitely recommend. Well worth seeing and there are mny other exhibits besides art.
