“This is a "Must Do" for Macintosh followers”

What an experience seeing this house. It is beautifully done. Charles and his new wife Margaret had designed this house for a German competition, but it got eliminated during the final reviews for some technical reason. The design drawings were saved, found and finally built in 1996 due to the perseverance and expertise of many Scottish artists and architect followers. This is a wonderful place with exquisite finishes that were created by artists who strived to bring Charles and Margaret's' ideas to real life. We easily took a train and walk to find the house and it was so worthwhile- the highlight of our visit in Glasgow. Dining there also was excellent. Also it is walkable to Burrell Collection if you are up to a little walk and adventure, then take train back to central station.

“Hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2014

The highlight of the Charles Rennie Macintosh trail, hidden away in a leafy suburb - don't miss it. An architectural masterpiece, created in the 1990s and based on Mackintosh's 1902 competition entry. The whole house truly reflects its name and the audio interpretation points out the detail and greatly enhances the experience. The music room is the high point - a wonderland of a room, a Scottish Hall of Mirrors (sans mirrors), you will gasp! Truly the perfect venue for a wedding or other celebration.

“interesting venue”

A bit out of the way, particularly if your time is limited in the city, but great relaxing location - if it is not pissing with rain! Relaxed café bistro.

“Beautiful House”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2014

This is a beautiful house and well worth a visit. It has a super gift shop, full of lovely things, and a lovely cafe. Definitely worth spending a leisurely afternoon looking round the house, filled by a visit to the cafe and shop.
