The collection is foremost in Rex Whistler and The Glasgow Boys. Entrance is free and well worth an hour or so wandering round and admiring the beautiful works of art. The signage could have been a bit more expansive, but on the whole, this is a must see on any trip to Glasgow!

A little too academic to our taste. It seemed a bit overpowering. The staff were polite however not really geared to our minds to the tourist visitor. Shop staff did try too.

The Hunterian Art Gallery at the University of Glasgow is located next to the Mackintosh house and a small but interesting sculptor garden. But do not confuse it with the Hunterian Museum across the street with a focus on natural sciences and historical artifacts like from the Antonio Wall way north of Hadrian's wall ...built by the Romans. You get to see the largest collection of works by the American Whistler born in MA. His sister gave his paintings...finished and in process...to the place of their forefathers. Most interesting especially to see how he approached the canvas. They have a special collection of the Scottish colorists and a few of the Glasgow Gang. The museum is on one floor in a circle. Just the right number of paintings to see in an hour. The guides are passionate students.

Wonderful Glasgow university collection of art. Mixed variety and quality but some really special works including a small Chardin and some remarkable Whistlers.
