“Interesting hotel - a disused church”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2012

Only realised that it was a church after reading about the reviews left by other travellers.
the lobby staff was very pleasant and helpful. In fact, they kept calling for the taxi when it did not show up - peak hour traffic. Breakfast staff, however, is left to be desired. One would presume that they are not used to catering for overseas guests. I had to ask them to repeat what they're saying even though I knew it was English. Their MO of clearing the table (though small it may be) was to brush the crumbs off and into the floor. One can imagine how clean it would be at the end of the breakfast.

We were lucky in that sense that it was winter when we were there, so there was no need for air conditioning nor opening the windows to allow fresh air.

It was a pleasant hotel over all.

Room Tip: There are no lifts to go to the upper floors. So be prepared when you travel with heavy luggage.

We stayed here for one night in a superior king room. Cannot make any complaints! Apart from the tiny one of a light bulb out in the bedroom... Room was spotless, cosy bed and great bathroom. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice from cooked or continental and the cocktails are definitely work a try! (Not at breakfast time though!) The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. I love the contemporary feel of the whole building, you certainly don't expect the inside to look like it does from outside! There was quite a lot of road noise, boy racers revving their cars outside, this died down around midnight but our room was opposite the police station so maybe try a different side of the hotel for a room.
We will be visiting the other Malmaisons, great hotel, great stay!

Room Tip: Stay in the best room you can afford, definitely worth the money! Also try not get a room not opposi...

This is my favourite hotel in Glasgow. Centrally placed, in a converted chapel, the rooms are luxuriously furnished in a contemporary style. The steaks in the downstairs dining room are to die for, served on a platter with a choice of sauce, and very more-ish fries on the side. The view from the bedrooms over the whole of Glasgow is delightful!

Room Tip: rooms at the back have the best view

Stayed here for the second time recently. All in all we felt that the hotel was a little shabby and that standards had slipped since our last visit.
The attention to detail that used to be associated with Malmaison hotels seems to have disappeared and replaced by marketing gimmicks everywhere you look.
Our room was basic to say the least, and we have seen much better rooms at other boutique hotels in Glasgow. Our bathroom could have been cleaner and the room in general looked like it could do with a makeover.
Went out for dinner and returned to the hotel for a night cap to find the bar had closed--wasn,t very late at all.
Breakfast again a sorry affair with no orange juice available and a poor display on offer. serving staff looked uninterested in offering any guest care.
The front desk staff were however excellent and extremely helpful.
All in all a very disappointing visit for us.

Staff were super friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are small but have everything you need and are very comfortable. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. The high level of attention to detail in the design and decor is also reflected in the breakfast, from the food served to the service.

A great place to stay in central Glasgow. Very welcoming and friendly staff, eclectic furnishings and decor. Comfortable room with good (but small) bathroom. Excellent breakfast, cooked to order, including such things as eggs benedict, scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. Quiet and restful, but reasonably close to restaurants, pubs, etc.
