“The best hotel in the UK”

We were knocked out by the sheer grandeur of the building, the classy decor, the free glass of whisky welcome, the tartan clad friendly staff, the HUGE bedroom (upgrade- it's worth the extra!) the luxurious bathroom, the amount of freebies in the room, the so so comfortable bed and the generous checking out time (12 I think?). If I won the lottery I would consider living there!

A one night stay was simply not enough when checking into Hotel Du Vin at ODG, I just did not want to leave.

From the welcome of the smiling doorman in his tartan trousers the stay just got better & better. The surroundings are second to none, traditional yet contemporary & so cosy on what was a freezing cold Scottish day. We were offered tea & toast while we checked in (we arrived super early knowing our rooms would not be ready but they stowed our bags, organised a private bathroom for us to freshen up in, tea & toast & the warmest of welcomes).

We were not let down by the rooms either - stylish bedrooms, great bathrooms (roll top bath by the window with candles plus a power shower big enough for 5!).

Drinks in the bar by the roaring fire were followed by a fantastic dinner (vine tomatoes stuffed with crayfish, followed by scottish steak & then a cheese platter to die for) & then after dinner drinks in the heated 'cigar shack' in the hotel gardens.

We enjoyed ourselves so much that rather than explore the city we got cosy in the bar on Sunday starting with bloody mary's then more of the great cheese, some red wine & the Sunday papers & only left when it was time to go to the airport in the early evening. I know I am gushing but really, it was one of the best hotel experiences I have had - surroundings & luxury aside, what made it for myself & my guests were the staff - so friendly, so welcoming. We were trully made to feel at home within the hotel & we are already planning a return visit. I cannot recommend this hotel enough - it was worth every single penny.

This has got to be the coolest place i have ever stayed. The hotel is located in a residential neighborhood, but is a short walk from the pubs and shopping. We took a taxi in, and then walked back. The hotel has an amazing turn of the century rich feel to it. Creaky stairs, four poster beds, and beautiful baths...even the keys are old skeleton keys. If you are looking for an amazing stay in Glasgow, be sure not to miss this place. The price is a little expensive, but you will feel like a king from the days of old.

  • Liked — Everything, THE BEST hotel i have ever stayed. All around amazing experience.
  • Disliked — The location isn't right in the middle of town, but it does afford you some good quiet time away from the city centre.

Much as we loved wandering round Glasgow, we found ourselves delaying going out to spend more time in this fantastic hotel. The staff were friendly, and seemed geniunely happy to help. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was immaculate, beautiful and comfortable. I would recommend spending some time in the Whiskey lounge in front of the roaring fire on a cold day. Much better than its counterpart in Birmingham.

We stayed a this hotel for two nights over a weekend whilst visiting glasgow for a concert. The hotel was fantastic from start to finish. We were greeted warmly and check in was done in the hotel's lounge in front of a roaring fire. Our room was only a standard one but the size equalled that of many superior sized rooms I have stayed in at other hotels. The huge walk in wardrobe and fantastic deep bath with gorgeous toiletries were excellent.

There was a huge range of magazines provived to browse through and we were given a paper outside our door each morning. There was a good selection of dishes at breakfast outside of the usual full cookend breakfast.

We also ate in the bistro and the food was lovely, service efficient yet unobtrusive. They made an effort to get us a table even though they were fully booked - yet we didn't feel hurried at any point.

An excellent hotel worth the expense - I would definitely go there again.

  • Liked — Service and quality of accommodation
  • Disliked — Location - a walk to centre of Glasgow

Just a beautiful hotel. Expensive but worth it. We booked one of the classic rooms for a one-night stay and it was enormous, with a separate downstairs bathroom (heated floors and two-person shower). Very tasteful and romantic. Would also recommend eating in the restauarant.

My wife and I stayed here in August for 3 nights. We were in Glasgow for our wedding. We stayed in the Belfour Suite. Put simply, this is the best hotel in Britain. If you can afford it and are looking for some serious luxury then this is the place to stay.
