Interesting building that now houses an architecture and design museum. Best part was the views of the city skyline.

Excellent place, so much to see and so varied. Even managed to overcome fear of heights to go to the top of the tower.

“Interesting Gallery and Great lookout point”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2013

Had a lucky stroke of a sunny day in Glasgow and the lighthouse was a great location to go up the tower and have a great 360 view of the whole city.

The added perk were the galleries which presented architecture and design concepts of both young artists and Makintosh.

As the lighthouse is free and centrally located I would definitely recommend a hop to see everything it offers.

“A splendid building conversion - great event space, or just worthy of a visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2013

I was able to visit the Lighthouse for a user group meeting - the user group had booked the top floor and another room

From an event point of view - the group had a great main room spacious, well powered, good screen. Didn't seem to be any major problems: although I had a problem with the wifi dropping out- wouldn't hold this against them as I've been to other IT conferences where the drop outs have been much worse.

Nice coffee, excellent lunch. Was slightly odd that the cafe was open so you had public (quite rightly) wandering by conference stands.

It is a well beautifully architected conversion of an old building - the "back" of the building space has been converted to modern escaltors and lifts using the main building space for displays and conference space. Beautifully done.

At the end, I took a quick chance to sneak up to the top floor viewing platform - great views out over glasgow.

Had a bit of a browse in the shop on the ground floor which was very impressive - reminded me of the Baltic shop in Gateshead, or the MOMA in New York, beautiful and quirky designs and objects to buy.

Go visit even if you're not holding an event. If you're holding an event - consider this venue.

“This is a very interesting place to visit in central Glasgow”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 8, 2013

I love this place. A former newspaper print works, the tower held the water tank for the steam presses, has been transformed into a cultural destination.
The front has been extended in glass to form an entrance and eclectic gift shop. Up the escalators and lifts, so it is fully wheelchair friendly, you can access five or so floors each with different things in flexible, modern, light and airy spaces. I will tell you what we were able to do when we visited but it may well have changed by the time that you go.
An exhibition, with film about the reuse of buildings and modern architecture.
An area devoted to information about eco friendly and recycled building and decorating materials
A workspace, open to the public, where people were taking in their designs and using the 3D printers to manufacture their T.V. tables, boat parts etc, etc, etc.
An exhibition, with a free glass of wine, of some beautiful paintings of foggy 1950s Glasgow street scenes with cars and buses.
A beautifully put together exhibition of the designs of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Drawings and also some of the finest models, some small and some tiny, that I have ever seen of his work built and never built, and some furniture. The lighting in here is excellent. There is also a small exhibition shop.
Coffee and a cake in the café
Fantastic, panoramic, roof top views of Glasgow from the top floor. You are behind glass so if it is chucking it down you are protected.
I think there are also meeting rooms.
The exterior of the Lighthouse building is preserved as the interior walls of the spaces. It is just a delight. Trust me and visit.
Oh, the toilets are very good too
