“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

Really I'm surprised this is not rated higher in the best places to visit in Glasgow.

The venue is mostly free (some exhibitions you have to pay for, and donations are requested everywhere else.)

The long trek up to the top is worth the calf pain!

Very interesting exhibitions in a stylish setting.

“Victorian Splendour is a Glasgow Oasis!”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

Nestling between two busy streets which includes the famous Style Mile in Buchanan Street is the former headquarters of the Glasgow Herald. This Charles Rennie Mackintosh designed building has a wonderful layout and tribute to the architect's creative use of light and space.
There are interesting exhibitions, the occasional charity sale and a delightful well stocked tearoom to recharge the batteries. The viewing gallery is a must see both inside and out with the city's bustling vibrancy a breathtaking experience.
Altogether The Lighthouse is a fascinating visit and the guides are very helpful.

“Don't miss the gift shop!”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

Highly recommended not only due to its really inventive, creative and interesting gift shop- there is also a great viewing gallery at the top that gives you a fantastic view over Glasgow.

“A Little Gem”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

I'm afraid that I have only just got round to visiting this little gem. What a lovely building that looks like no more than a shop front from the outside! I really liked the Charles Rennie Mackintosh exhibition and the viewing platform looking out over the Glasgow skyline.

“Worth a look if passing, but avoid the escalators if you have vertigo!”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

The viewing gallery was closed when I visited, which was disappointing, but we were mainly there to see a craft fair that was on.

I suffer from vertigo and could only take the glass sided escalators up a couple of flights; I had to finish the journey up in the lift.

My companion and I were after a drink and snack but after checking out the cafe went elsewhere; it didn't look comfortable or inviting
