“SCRUMPTIOUS FOOD”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

The food here is excellent, especially the infamous mussels. On my last visit I opted for the range of small dishes for a main course as I just couldn't decide... they were all fantastic! The service is always very good and the place has a real buzz about it

“Lovely Meal”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

Had a cheeky wee Itison voucher, so on the basis of the food, I'm updating my review:

We had a table booked to use our voucher on Saturday and we were eating upstairs. I've never eaten in the new part yet, and what a treat it was!

The menu had 3 small starter plates for £10.50, so we opted for the grilled halloumi, the sweet potato pakora and the crisp pork belly, black pudding and apple puree.

Ooft, the pakora and pork were amazing! Tha halloumi was only 3 wee slices sadly, I could have eaten loads of it!!

The pot of mussels was plentiful although they were a bit overcooked, the soda bread was lovely and the fries were served in a cute wee chip poke.

I still prefer the garlic bread in Brel to soda bread, but that's because Brel ain't afraid of using garlic!

The Delerium beer at 8.5% almost finished me off after 3 strong pints in Brewdawg, but for £15 for both of us it was an outstanding bargain!

Would heartily recommend the menu upstairs, though I prefer the tiled-wall-stabled-rustic look look of the downstairs area!

“Nice food!”
Reviewed July 12, 2013

Went here for lunch and had the lunchtime burger offer. Really tasty and huge portion! Also came with a free soft drink which was a nice touch. We sat outside to take advantage of the nice weather and it was very pleasant - big tables with umbrellas if you want them. Speedy service too. Will be coming back to try the dinner time menu

“Great value lunch”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

A second lunchtime visit for me today in as many weeks. The lunch menu is really good value and I'd recommend the burger. This time I opted for the three small plates, not so small and well worth £10. The staff are friendly but the service can be a wee bit slow. I think they are doing building/renovation work at the moment so that may be the problem. The beer garden is fantastic in this weather. I'd recommend Brel for an informal meal or a sociable drink.

“very nice pub/restaurant”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

On Ashton Lane right by the University of Glasgow, this place had a great selection of beer, and the food was very good as well. A fun place to go with family or friends!
