“great value for money”
Reviewed March 1, 2011

Central hotel at really reasonable price, compact room with first class fixtures and fittings. Remote control worked everything from tv to mood lighting in shower. Free movies and wi fi. Really comfortable king size bed, the only thing the room lacked was coffee making facility.
Public loung/ reception area has amazing comfortable designer furniture and computer area with MAC computers and free internet use.

Bar can be a bit pricey but you are paying for your surroundings. There are plenty pubs and restaraunts within 200 metres of hotel.
Will definetely use this hotel again.

Stayed here for one night but wish it was longer!

The room is amazing! Very modern, loved the mood pad (which controls everything in the room, including the TV, lighting and blinds). The blinds are blackouts, and combined with the biggest bed I've ever seen, I had a wonderful nights sleep. Had no noise from outside, despite our window facing straight onto the street. The bed is huge and extremely comfortable. Didn't want to get out of it! The shower is fantastic, really spacious, warm and powerful, and the provided shower gels are a treat.

Location is great - a stone's throw from the shops, restaurants, bars and supermarkets.

Staff are extremely friendly! Had a little problem with accessing the movies (which are included for free!) on our TV, so we contacted reception and it was sorted out immediately. Staff were there to help with checking in/out too. We thought the self check-in was great, because you get to choose what floor you're on and what view you can have.

The hotel itself is really quirky, we had a little walk around and there's lots to see! Funky seating, odd sculptures, an amazing collection of books! And a handful of Apple Macs with free internet access for customer use.

We didn't have the breakfast so can't comment on that. And the only thing I can think of that might be a problem for anyone is the lack of surface space/hanging space in the room. We only stayed one night so this wasn't a problem, and there is a massive drawer under the bed so you can fold plenty things away if you're staying for longer. There's enough room to hang up a good 4/5 items though! There's also an electronic safe under the bed which was a great little bonus.

All in all, an absolutely wonderful experience, and I will be going back!

4 nights of hell
This is the first hotel I've ever stayed at where I have had to make my own bed.
The beds is big and boxed into the window so Housekeeping cannot get around to make it, so the fold up your quilt every day and leave in the middle of the bed for you to make.
The pillows are good but they're too small, I needed all four to get across the bed, so in the middle of the night I was falling between them and waking up.
There is no headboard so its uncomforatble watching tv from the bed
I liked the blinds and blackout for the window, hated the mood lighting because there is no setting to turn it off.
The bathroom is a large wet room equpped for the disabled (well done) however because of this the sink is very low, I'm not tall but an inadvertant spray from the taps goes all over the trousers, and when sitting on the loo my knees were locked under the sink.
The rain shower is good but I would have liked something a bit stronger.
Passed on the breakfast at £9.95 when can get a decent one from cafes for £5, the rest of the food did not look very appetising.
No tea or coffe making facilities in room, and had to pay £2.50 extra to pay by Debit card, not metioned when booking
The wireless internet is great, best signal I've had in 3 months, even if only 1Mb download speed, handled Skype video fine.

Hi PhilroseServices,

Apologies about your experience, it represents the opposite of what we built citizenM for.

You mentioned making your own bed, but we are responsible of keeping your room clean & tidy every day. Note that housekeeping does not need to stand on the bed since there is system with handles to lift the sheets from the other side of the mattress, however the arrangement of the blanket is in purpose at the middle of the bed, keeping things simple and practical. Although the pillows are squared sized and bigger than average, I could understand if they feel too small in a comfy XL king-size bed of 2x2 meters. We believe it is comfortable watching TV surrounded by 4 comfy pillows in a large bed.

You stayed in a room for citizens with special needs, and I apologize if it was not at your request. Even though we do the outmost to provide you the best experience, sometimes things do not go as expected. It is important to communicate with the Ambassadors during the stay so that any issue can be solved. Mood lighting can be turned off, by clicking in the button at the middle of the Moodpad!

We believe citizenM is like your home where your room is a place to sleep, watch TV and take a good shower. Downstairs there is the canteenM, our 24/7 minibar, with a large variety of food and beverages, including coffee & tea facilities. Breakfast special is £9.95 but you can choose a la carte and pay per item too. Just like an airline ticket, there is a £2.50 additional fee, at check-in, for Credit Cards and Visa Debit as these companies charges the fee per transaction.

We could have turned your stay to a positive experience if you had chosen to communicate with us while onboard. If you think we deserve another chance, feel free to write me directly so that we make sure to provide you our true citizenM hospitality.

Wish you safe travels.

All the best,
citizenDiego

We usually pay about £50/60 to crash over night in Glasgow - however I will deffy be spending the few extra £'s from now on - the bed was worth the extra money alone! The staff were helpful when checking in/out and it was all very slick and great idea for the self check in/out. The room was great - not big, but ideal for a one night stay over in Glasgow. The remote control was also great - controlling EVERYTHING in the room apart from flushing the toilet! We were 6 floors up with a view over the city - did not hear a peep from outside or inside the hotel all night..........only negative side was 11am checkout........I could have stayed in that bed all day.

We decided to book this hotel after reading the fantastic reviews on trip advisor and we were not disappointed. CitizenM Glasgow most definitley deserves their number 1 ranking. Firstly, we arrived at the hotel quite a bit earlier than the check in time at approximately 11am and there was no hastle in allowing us to check in there and then. The check in and check out system is one of the easiest we had ever used and was done in seconds- efficient and effective. The rooms are fantastic and the blinds, tv, moodlighting and heating are all controlled with a remote and very fun to play with. The rooms also provide free wi-fi and there is a large selection of free movies to choose from. Although small the room provides everything a traveller would need for an overnight stay, however, there is not much room for clothes etc if you planned to stay at the hotel for more than a few days. The bed is very large and extremely comfortable, I had one of the best sleeps ever with the cozy pillows and duvet. Another bonus to this hotel is the location- the hotel is very close to the city centre and near restaurants and pubs. The hotel was actually very good value for money and I would recommend this cool and funky hotel to anybody looking for a modern hotel to stay in Glasgow city centre.

An amazing hotel which from moment you walk has you hooked. Loved abolsutely everything, the style and decor, the chilled out atmosphere, the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff, the super cool rooms, biggest most comfortable bed, the moodpad to change the lighting and feel of the room, and the choice of music in your room too. Just superb - every city should have one!
