“Great Friendly Staff!!”
Reviewed March 27, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here on buisness trip. Thought i'd give it a go, instead of the usual premier inn.

On entry, was slightly confused as i had to go upstairs to check in...and up the very winding stairs. Was greeted by a very friendly staff member who helped me check in on computer terminal. Recp/bar area was very funky!

Bedroom was also very funky, with mood lightning, and semi transparent glass in shower module, was not one for the shy!
Room was compact, bed was v comfy, hanging space for clothes/shirts was minimal.

Overall- very helpful friendly staff, and reasonably priced.
Rating- would def use again, a refreshing change to the normal hum drum hotel.

Such a different hotle to what I'm used to. The location is great, right in the centre of the city, it is very quiet inside, and has lots of little cool quirks. The only downer I had was that I would prefer the ability to have room service and a hotel restaurant. The hotel has more of a 'Canteen' where you can have sandwiches and some hot snacks, more like what you can get in a coffee shop. But if you're having a couple's weekend it's nice to get food and drink delivered to the room sometimes. But that really didn't have a negative impact in what was otherwise a really good stay. Quick note, the movies are free BUT there is a lot of porn! So if you have kids, make sure you put a parental lock on before you let your kids play with the cool room remote!

This is a different hotel. It is funky and without a reception desk, it takes a few minutes to get used to a different way of getting into the Hotel.
The rooms are also different, small with a shower and toilet pod. The bed is huge but there is little room to do anything other than sleep.
Breakfast was excellent and the staff extremely helpful. The reception area gives opportunities to work.
The hotel is a few minutes walk from central Glasgow.
All in all a really excellent concept hotel, with a big bed in a small room. I would definitely stay here again.

If you can't think for yourself, it's not for you, but if you prefer to think - this is an accomlishment. What I like most is there's SPACE in the lobby and all over to work in. Need a print out for your project? No problem. Need internet? The fastest I have ever experienced in the UK. Best? They leave you alone.

The rooms are wild - small, but functional - and the beds are massive. (Someone else on here complained about not knowing where to put their pillow...please). The shower? Like a hot waterfall. You control the temperature, you control the lighting design - and there's free movies. The only thing is that the controls for the computer bit is a little bit slow.

Thankfully someone is trying really great new things.

Booked into this fabulous hotel for the first time on Sat 23rd March 2013 for a one night stay.

I was over the moon, whereas a couple of the others who were staying disagreed, saying that the rooms were too small.

Loved the self service check-in.

The room was amazing with it's mod cons and phillips mood pad. The bed was amazing!! I had the best sleep ever and for the first time in years I woke with no back pain! Completely sound proofed rooms meant blissful silence.

The "rain" shower was awesome and although staying alone, I couldn't help but think that perhaps it would have been fun for 2 lol.

I cannot fault my stay here. It was magnificent. I would say that the price (£82.50) felt a bit steep when I was checking in but it is reflected in the quality of the rooms and of course the comfort.

I usually go into lots of detail in my reviews but there is no need here, the website says it all and I did feel like a Citizen :o)

Oh, one minor thing, but laughable, the lifts! I ended up going up and down several times before reaching my own floor. Not the best with a hangover but all the same, made me chuckle.

Thanks for a fabulous experience.

Recently stayed at CitizenM Glasgow for three nights. First time staying at the hotel and was very impressed. The hotel is very modern and feels very fresh and new. When checking in for example they do not have a reception desk as I expected but self check in machines with happy and helpful staff to assist you. You give your name or booking number and it is all done within a minute on a touch screen! Room was very nice, best thing about it for me was the bed which is massive, so comfortable! I could have spent time happily in my room rather than going out and about in Glasgow. The room had everything you needed, and the way you can control the temperature, lighting, blinds, television all from one control was great. Shower was lovely - easy to work and get temperature how you liked it. The hotel had comfortable lounge areas available, with televisions showing the news, there was also free WiFi and also an area with computers which could be used free of charge which were handy.

The only thing I would note is that the hotel does not have a restaurant as such. It operates a buffet style cafe, which was lovely, but I think I would have liked to be able to have more choice of hot meals there. However what they had available was very good and this would not affect me staying there again.

They offer a breakfast in the morning (5 - 11am) with a great choice of smoothies, cereal, croissants, jam, cheese, juice, coffee, tea and also hot cooked breakfast. We had the hot breakfast and it was lovely. They also had a hot meal available between 5 - 9pm every night. The cafe is open 24 hours a day, and available at all times they had salads, sandwiches, crisps, juice, water, snacks really. The cafe/bar area had a very nice feel to it. Chairs were very comfortable.

Really good hotel, right in the centre of Glasgow - very close to bus and train station, right next to shops and cinema etc. Good value for money, would recommend and would stay there again.

I had initially learned about CitizenM via a social networking course my work had put me on in Glasgow. They had talked about how CitizenM had done all their marketing almost entirely through social networking sites and how innovative the hotel was etc.

Eager to check it out and bored with the usual travelodge options we decided to book into CitizenM on our next trip to Glasgow. It is a huge building that looks very out of place on Renfrew Street but it does look very very cool.
Upon entering the lobby I felt very disorientated, there was no traditional check in desk, instead a friendly young lady told me it was a self service check in and if we needed anything to ask for her help. The check in process was via touch screen and I’m sure it would have been easy enough to operate but the girl kept talking to me and distracting me and I’m the type of person who can’t do more than one thing at a time.

Our room looked very swanky, I thought. Everything was controlled via a special remote beside the bed. The lights in the shower changed colour which was kinda funky and the tv had lots of movies on it, although the 200 movies we were promised were mainly of the adult nature - although this didn’t bother us too much because we were going out that night and didn’t come to Glasgow to watch movies!

Ordering our dinner was a bit weird. We went downstairs to the canteen which is essentially just a sandwich bar with a bar attached. We took what we wanted but due to the place being non-traditional, we stood around like idiots wondering what to do next, the canteen didn’t appear to have any staff there so we weren’t sure if we had to pay someone or if it was added to our room via swiping our room key somewhere. It wasn’t altogether clear what we had to do.

The bed is surrounded on three sides by walls. There’s a headboard on the side where the window is and the TV is on one of the walls. We weren’t 100% sure where to put our pillows. Unfortunately I didn’t sleep very well because the room was a bit cold and the duvet was very warm. So a lot of the time was spent moving in and out of under the covers. We later discovered that we change the temperature via the remote control but didn’t really have the knowledge to check everything that it controlled. The pillows were not comfy, big and square but I think that is just down to personal taste.

All in all, this hotel bridges the gap between travelodge and a “proper” hotel but it tries so hard to be innovative and interesting that it lacks the fundamental things accommodation should have or is designed in such a way that it picks style over function e.g the sink in the room is outside the shower & toilet and there is no bin or kettle in the room. Also, I spent a great deal of time trying to find how to do things or where to go and it left me feeling a bit like an idiot. It won’t be a problem if I choose to stay there again but I’m not really sure if I would like to. I might pay a bit more and stay at a hotel next time.
