“Cosy little bar with roaring fire!”

I was on a pub crawl with my friend last week and we happened upon this little bar by accident. It's right on the corner and as it was raining we stepped inside.

Good choice!!

I immediately felt at home and the atmosphere was upbeat and friendly. You could tell it was a place for regulars but at no time did we feel we didn't fit in.

The lady at the bar was very welcoming, chatty and friendly and even went out of her way to go down to the cellar without being asked to bring up some more flavours of crisps and nuts we could choose from.

There is a roaring fire and seats as well
as tables to either stand at or park a stool.
Not a huge pub, but just about the right size for me.

Excellent choice of all the usual spirits, wines and beers. I'm not a whiskey drinker but there was literally loads of whiskeys to choose from all lined up on shelves behind the bar.

All in all, a good experience and I'd be happy to recommend it to people of all ages.

Definitely a place not to miss.
Got there while on a whisky bar crawl and must admit it was a stunner.
The place, the lady at the bar, the choice of bottles there and the very warm welcome. Not a mistake there.

If you are visiting Glasgow you have to visit The Ben Nevis. It pretends to be a local Anderston Howf, but has actually been engineered skilfully as a social hub on a number of levels.

It is small. It is quirky. It has a fantastic selection of whisky, beers, wines etc. It is staffed by characters and managed by even bigger characters. Its customers encompass poets, playrights, printers and plasterers. Its customers often have nice friendly dogs. It serves Haggis Rolls and Pie and Beans. Its customers friendly dogs will help you eat these.

You have to make the detour!

This guy know his business. He was very savy with his information regarding whisky blaming his information on a good friend in the industry. He was very humble. he recommended that we go to Edinburgh to to the Whisky tour which we did. Look out for the dogs in the pub, they guard the female entrance to the toilet and take over the pub floor. What a wonderful experience

What a unique pub. You'll need to ask Elaine the bartender or some of the regulars about all the relics and items on the walls. Look for the fault line on the floor. A neighborhood pub but very friendly to tourists, too.
