We were recomended to try cup by a friend who'd been to their other place in town. While the food was nice enough it did seem a bit overpriced and none of us felt the food was that different to what is available elsewhere. Being served took a little while but as they were clearly very busy this didnt bother us particularly. What was more frustrating was when we came to order our first two choices made were off the menu, having worked in a restaurant (albeit in the kitchens) good waiting staff will tell you imediately if anything is unavailable and avoid this slightly disapointing situation.
The final down side was the seating area upstairs. It was really cramped! Now i'm short but even I had to duck under the beam upstairs. It was a bit awkward for our significantly taller friends but this was made worse by the table we'd reserved via top table being a long bench in between other tables. They actually had 5 stools round it but even with 4 of us the staff had to keep asking my wife to move to get round to serve the other customers, but to evoid bumping elbows while eating she had to keep moving back again.
Overall nothing was desparately bad but when the promoted image is of a little bit of an upmarket treat for afternoon tea Cup let itself down on things i'm sure the management could rectify.
