“New ownership”
Reviewed March 9, 2014

The restaurant is under new ownership and their welcome and engagement very much appreciated. We went for lunch and noticed the menu was the same as for other previous visits. Maybe a change will be implemented by the new owners? We ordered one pasta dish and on pizza and both were served in good time, very hot and extremely tasty. The staff checked the meals were to our satisfaction which, of course, it was. TIP - the restaurant was very noisy due to the large group eating in a very long table which meant our conversation was difficult and it drowned out the in house music. This is not the Restaurant's staff fault but, when booking, you may wish to ask if there is any large group bookings. The upstairs restaurant is due to open soon for evening meals.

DISCOUNTS available for NHS staff from the nearby hospital.

“Appears to have new management team”
Reviewed March 7, 2014

Decided to have lunch here as it was a few months since we had been.
Noticed the staff had changed so enquired and yes it's under new management.
The lunch menu is still the same but hopefully it might change as it seens to have been the same menu for quite some time.
We were given warm bread with a pat of butter and oil with balsamic vinaigrette while we waited. I always look forward to this. We both chose the bruschetta with mozzarella and a salad for starters for a change. Lovely and warm but the bread was quite soggy. I prefer it with fresh tomatoes for that reason. For mains we chose the rump steak, done to perfection the way we like it with chunky chips and a salad. No room for dessert but like the rest of the menu there was a choice of four. Two cokes and we were £28. Definitely enjoyable and the service was excellent. Hopefully as I said the menu will change as it's the same old same old. Apparantly the upstairs venue room has closed and it's being changed to ?? Indian menu.
It was very noisy when we visited as there was a table for about 20, so they drowned out the music. Restaurant gives discount to NHS staff and it looks as if they make use of it .

“Lovely as always”
Reviewed March 5, 2014 via mobile

Go here every now and again, and always enjoy.went for lunch yesterday ,spaghetti with crab and chilli very tasty.staff are friendly and if you want to adapt a meal, very accommodating.bread offered with oil and balsamic lovely.my only issue is the parking.think restaurant need to devise way of stopping all the hospital workers parking at restaurant .struggled to park when went for early lunch, only few people in restaurant,if can't park would have to just go somewhere else.

“not quite the mark”
Reviewed March 2, 2014

I have been here on a few occasions and find it does not quite hit the mark. The service and surroundings are nice but I always feel the food does not match. The trout starter I had was tasty .My friends caesar salad was too large for a starter. The scallopine de pollo was disappointing .With this dish I prefer the chicken breaded. Our chicken was a bit burnt resulting in a dry chewy dish .The pasta was plentiful but had too much sauce and we were not offered any parmesan. The wine and menu are overpriced for what is on offer.

“Good service but on this occasion average food”
Reviewed February 24, 2014

Have been to this restaurant twice, the first was a much better experience than this time.

As it was a 5pm.com market menu we also had 2 starters which were nice

Ordered a steak which was ok, the chunky chips were undercooked and the salad just did not complement the meal.

The wife ordered the burger which she was pleased with.

The staff we attentive but it was quite quiet.

£12 each which included a glass of wine. Good value.
