We had a very good night at the recent Morrocan Night at Gutso and Relish on Pollokshaws Road. It was our first time at one of the popular special evening meals that the local cafe and deli occasionally hold.

The two of us shared a plate of mixed starters briouates, marinated aubergines, falafel, hummus and flatbread and then moved on to substantial servings of chicken, olive and preserved lemon tagine served with cous cous and carrot salad.

We then shared desserts of m'hannha and honey cinnamon oranges both served with yoghurt ice cream.

All for £19:95 per person. There's no drinks license, so it's BYOB, with a corkage charge of £3 per bottle. Which helps to keep the cost down.

We're both looking forward to the next one already. Look out for them being advertised in the shop and on Facebook too.

Full disclosure: I know the owners (they used to live near by) but I would still really like this place even if I didn't. Individual and unusual with a very personal touch. Lovely lunches and much of the menu is homemade. Try the homemade sausages.

Great food in this busy cafe on Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow. food is great - love the fresh homemade soup and the sandwiches that are full of quality ingredients. Staff really friendly and service good. I would love to try own of their themed evenings to sample their more fomal offerings.

Myself and my partner love g&r and really rate the food and the surroundings. We are always made to feel welcome and it's just the tonic we need on those cold horrible scottish afternoons! Highly recommended!

We came here as my partner had heard great things about it. The food was fresh and they had a nice selection of more unusual sandwich combinations and fayre than you normally get offered in similar wee cafes.

It was quiet when we were in, so not much atmosphere (mid week; mid afternoon), but I can imagine it will be busy at peak times due to its location on the main road.

Enjoyed my tuna, cheese and onion bagel, and their carrot cake was gorgeous - (very moist, deffo homemade and had a generous layer of butter icing. Yum!).

Decor inside the cafe is basic and a little tired, but seemed clean. The girl behind the counter was very noisy doing goodness knows what in the back (sounded like she was crashing huge numbers of plates and cutlery about). Food good though, and if you have kids, theres evidence of equipment to keep them entertained while you have a cuppa. Deffo worth a wee look if you're in the area.
