“TERRIBLE”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

The worst restaurant we have ever been to. It was my birthday and we went to the buffet. We weren't allowed to chose our starters, a plate of food was brought to us and even although we requested no fish that's what we were given. The main, we had several options and every one of them would have blown your head off they were so hot. If you had wanted to go up for more, tough, the staff had started cleaning out the serving dishes, They also swept and washed the floors whilst we were eating. Who wants to smell disinfectant when eating? All the other tables were cleaned too. We felt unwelcome and very uncomfortable.
We thought about complaining but what would they have done? Probably have given us money off another meal and that would be last thing we wanted

“Nice atmosphere, good food.”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

I absolutely love the atmosphere in this place, and its a great place to chill out and have a quiet drink. The staff are very friendly and will go the extra mile to help you and it has a relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere. Great if you want to escape the usual noisy bars in Shawlands at the weekend. The food is lovely and well presented. To be honest I have had better, but I still think the food was very enjoyable.

“Amazing as always”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

Visited to discuss some business initiatives and the guest, who had not previously visited the restaurant, was literally blown away with the quality, service and general atmosphere. This is what Balbir does best; excellent food, served in good time and with a pleasant ambience.

“Best Indian Restaurant in Glasgow's Southside!”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

Saffron Lounge lost a bit of direction a few years ago. The quality of the food declined, they tried an international buffet approach and in comparrison to west end sister restaurant Balbir's and others north of the river such as Shish Mahal, Mr Singh's and Mother India they simply no werein the race. Often when I was going out for a curry I would just set the default to 'west end' without even thinking about going south. (the south was the place to go for the Italian restaurants. We'll I am delighted to say they are back on top form and if anything better than their west end rivals, easy parking, restful atmosphere, great service, subtle food, good portion sizes and a bill that was surprisingly good value for three courses and drinks for 2. Keep up the revival you mightbe up for the curry awards next year!!
