Description: Glasgow's first enoteca, The Italian Caffe is situated right in the very centre of Merchant City, offering fine dining and fine wines in a sleek and contemporary atmosphere. Intended to be a bit of a home from home, The Italian Caffe may be modern and upmarket but it's nonetheless cosy and welcoming, a place to relax and unwind after a hard day in the office. Take your pick from comfortable deep green banquettes, window side seating or a perch at the bar and settle in for an evening of chilled indulgence courtesy of your choice from The Italian Caffe's fifty-odd excellent and carefully chosen wines, both Italian and international. And though those fantastic wines form the backbone of the enoteca approach don't think for a moment that food has been neglected.

“Very tasty food and great atmosphere!”
Reviewed June 26, 2013 via mobile

We were four friends on a Friday evening. We were glad we booked as it was buzzing when we arrived just before 8. We were all very impressed with the food but myself and my husband thought it a little overpriced. The tapas style eating was refreshing and was great for trying a few different meals, we each had three plates and that was plenty. The waiting staff reasonably pleasant although the service could have been more efficient in places (it was very busy though!). I was expecting the place to be a bit sterile and more chain- like but was pleasantly surprised to find it was atmospheric and quite authentic. The wine here is again on the pricey side, even for the house wine. In all we would definitely come back and a pleasant evening was had by all.

“Early Evening "Tapas" Italian Style”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

Great little restaurant in the Merchant City area. Takes the Spanish concept of tapas and uses it very successfully to provide an Italian variation on this theme with a selection of small plates. Food as delicious well cooked and light on the palette. Wines are a particularly good selection as well, the Trebbiano & Garganega, Ponte Pietra being a fine value choice. Service was also very attentive and courteous.
I'd recommend the Pre-Theatre menu for those happy to eat earlier in the evening.

“Lovely Relaxing Lunch”
Reviewed June 8, 2013

Lunched here with my daughters and was very impressed with the food and service. We started by sharing a platter of olives and Italian bread and dips plus delicious Bruschetta. Our main courses of Rissotto and Linguine with prawns were very tasty, not big portions but more than enough for a satisfying lunch. Lovely atmosphere and very relaxing, we took almost 2 hours over lunch!!
