This hotel used to be the Scottish RAC Club, and the surrounding area wasn't exactly the best in town.
Two impressive transformations have taken place. This is a great hotel, and Blythswood Square has had quite a transformation, and is now a really nice part of town.

Check-In was fast, polite, and efficient.
The lift to my floor wasn't quite as efficient, and in general I would say it's definitely faster to walk.

I had an inside room so my view wasn't very impressive, but there was plenty of light coming in so I wasn't too concerned.

The room was really nice and had everything I needed.
I've stayed in a couple of hotels that put shutters in so that you can open the bathroom up to the main room. It benefits both the bathroom and the bedroom and still allows you the ability to have some privacy if required.

The WiFi was free and a pretty decent speed.

My bathroom had a lovely big bath and a separate shower too.

I went down to the bar on the first floor for a drink and a bit of food.
The service in there was really good.
Personally I would have liked a wider selection of draught lagers / beers, but there's no such shortage of Whiskies and other spirits.
I had a steak sandwich in the bar - and very nice it was too.

I slept really well, and enjoyed a nice big bath in the morning.

Breakfast was good too.

Check-Out was easy too.

We got a good rate for this hotel, and I will definitely check to see if we can get a similar rate before looking elsewhere when I am next going up to Glasgow.

There are plenty of good places to eat and drink near this hotel.
I didn't go to Two Fat Ladies on this trip, but it is a fantastic restaurant, and I will definitely aim to go next time I am there.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a Blythswood Square view, or if you want a really quiet room as for one of the r...

It was the first night of our Honeymoon and it didn't disappoint! From the fabulous Spa to the beautiful Salon, the whole ambience was quietly luxurious. Our room was lovely with a gorgeous bathroom. The service was unassuming but extremely confident. We ate in the restaurant, where the choice of menus gave a variety to match any appetite. When we left for our tour up the west coast to the Highlands, we felt refreshed and invigorated.

we had a two night stay as a wedding gift from close friends and we were amazed at how we were treated. the room we had was stunning. the bed was so comfortable, the bathroom and shower area was made of marble and was beautiful. they had films on tv and these were complimentry and the films were up to date. the spa was fantastic and loads of choice. this has been the best spa we have been to and highly recommened. we had breakfast and we both enjoyed. the evening meals was also beautiful but the starter option is a required taste. the main and the dessert was fantastic. the staff was very pleasent and always happy to help. overall we would recommend this hotel to anyone who likes luxury you wouldnt be disappointed. no wonder this hotel has five stars they totally deserve it. thanks to all staff who made our stay enjoyable and gave us a great experience.

Room Tip: the best room would be room 328.

We only had one night at the hotel. It is a beautiful old building and the public spaces, reception, waiting areas and restaurant and bars are well appointed. The restaurant menu was competent without being exciting. We felt that an opportunity was lost with the tapas menu. A few more options would have made it more attractive.
Our room was 405, inexplicably on the 5th and top floor. The room was spacious and beautifully appointed. However, it was too hot. The temperature outside was in the mid 20's but despite the air-conditioning being set on 16 degrees the room remained in the high 20's. We reported the problem and were provided with an electric fan. Having spent the last 4 weeks in Ireland, England and Scotland in high temperatures it was very disappointing to be unable to sleep in the only accommodation we booked that had air-conditioning.
The temperature problem aside, this is a very special hotel, with friendly and efficient staff.

Room Tip: Given that there was no general air of complaint, it could be that the temperatures in the rooms on...

We arrived on a very early flight so we were at the hotel by 10:15 AM. Still, they were happy to check us in because rooms were available. The rooms are very nice by any standard, and the bathrooms are especially lovely, either open to the bedroom or you can use a privacy panel to make the bathroom completely private. The bathrooms, in fact, are far superior to most luxury hotels. One criticism, I dusted the lampshades in the bathroom and generated a cloud of dust that was far too large, indicating that they had not been dusted in months. I did this, not because I have OCD, but because they were very visibly covered with dust. It bordered on "disgusting".
Breakfast was a nice selection of items from a buffet table and then we were invited to order a hot breakfast entrée as well. Eggs Benedict arrived very incompetently done on a muffin that shredded when cut and two horrible completely hard boiled eggs on top. Take them off the menu or send the chef back for a refresher course.
Overall, an excellent hotel with great rooms and nice public spaces. I would definitely recommend it and stay there again myself.

The Market Square menu is reasonably priced if a bit limited. On arrival we were seated in the main dining area but did not find this to be particularly comfortable and asked to be moved to a booth in the bar area. This was organised with the minimum of fuss. We both chose the same and although the starter sounded interesting the reality was very average. The steak came with only 2 options...pink or well done. We chose pink but when we started to eat discovered it was well done. The waitress asked if we were happy with the steak and when we pointed out that it was not pink she immediately removed it, organised a replacement and took the supplement off our bill. The service was excellent, the food good but not exceptional.
