“Very good food; excellent service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2013

We happened upon this restaurant in the rain and decided to stop. We liked it so much we went back two nights later.

The menu is interesting, the food was good, and the service was outstanding. Not cheap but good.

“Wrong restaurant - great meal!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 20, 2013

Booked the Two Fat Ladies at he Buttery but walked past one of the other ones at Blytheswood and made an assumption it was the only 1!
Walked up and sat down - to find no booking but informed this was not unusual and as they weren't busy we could stay (the 'right' 2FL was a few blocks away) Apparently this happens a lot between the various establishments which makes me think I am obviously not the only numpty that gets it wrong but also they may need to look at how they accept internet bookings?!

Small venue with good music and a real buzz. Blytheswood staff were fantastic, made us feel very welcome and fitted us in. Menu was short but plenty of choice ( I hate restaurants with dozens of options instead of concentrating on doing a few really well). They specialise in fish and seafood so we had scallops with black pudding and smoked salmon with artichokes to start - both very good, then followed on with lemon sole and halibut in sundried tomato crust; again both good but the tomato crust was a bit overpowering for my taste but once scraped off and then taken in smaller doses it worked really well.
Good wine list too
For 2 adults with starters, mains and shared sweet plus Prosecco and wine it came to £90 which was a fair price and the quality did not disappoint

“Fabulous lunch and great value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 17, 2013 via mobile

I visited with colleagues from work and ordered from the set menu (£16 for two courses). We were all very impressed by the quality of food and service and expect to return.

I had Cullen skink and sea bass. Both were very well cooked and presented - and delicious.

“A bit disappointed by the food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2013

I went back to the two Fat Ladies after a previous visit 3 years ago. The restaurant room is small, service is good, prices relatively high, but I was a bit disappointed by the meal, starting with the Cullen skink (not very tasty) , then the halibut (over cooked), to finish with the black cherries tart (impossible to identify the cherry taste). My English colleagues were happy, so it should be good according to local standards.

“Excellent Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2013

My girlfriend and I dined here on Saturday 11th May. Restaurant is quite small and intimate, and the service is good, but the food was truly exceptional. Had scallops followed by salmon with ham hock spring roll. The real star of the show was the trio of creme brulee....wow!
