“What a treat - outstanding food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2011

Came here with a group of friends, two of whom were celebrating their anniversary. We started the evening with a very good (although not cold enough) bottle of Laurent-Perrier Rose. The service was very attentive and the meal was outstanding and the dessert platter over the top. The restaurant was recommended by the concierge at our hotel and was deserving of the recommendation.

“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2011

The Two Fat Ladies at the Buttery is in the most unlikely surroundings - this adds to the atmosphere, as we walked through the door into the plush surroundings, we felt we had stepped into a country house. Beautiful furnishings and oak panelled walls.
It was one of the best meals we have had - scallops to start, followed by beef cooked to perfection with plenty veg. Although the surroundings are formal, the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere is extremely relaxed.
Looking forward to dining here again.

Great food, lovely restaurant and extremely friendly and hospitable staff! A delightful experience overall! A word of advice, make prior reservations if you want to visit and also make an effort to dress up. It's a nice posh place and you'll be sure to have an enjoyable evening!

“I would definitely recommend it for a traditional and very tasty meal in Glasgow.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2011

Because of my ignorance of the reference in the name, I was initially skeptical of the restaurant. However, when the young woman at the hotel said it was one of the favorites in Glasgow, my husband and I decided to go. I learned that the name comes from the bingo call for the number 88... two fat ladies. We ate there on a Sunday evening, which was quite busy with a mixture of families and couples.
The food was outstanding. I ordered a mushroom soup that was out of this world. My husband ordered a duck that he said was superb. We felt like we had stepped back to the turn of the last century. Dark wood seats lined the walls; white tablecloths and shiny silver were on the tables. We had a very pleasant young server. I would definitely recommend it for a traditional and very tasty meal in Glasgow. When we were ready to leave, a very pleasant host called for and accompanied us to our taxi.

“Lovely Experience, lovely food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2011

I visited 2 fat ladies based in the trip advisor review and it didn't disappoint. We had the pre-theatre menu as we had an early dinner and it was delicious. simple food, really well done.

It was a really lovely experience - the staff were exceptional attentive and quietly friendly. Happy to interact and advise when asked. I can't fault the service and it is sad that
is such a rare experience these days!

It was a slightly bizarre location which was a little off putting to arrive, but you got over that as soon as you were in the restaurant. The restaurant had a quiet and romantic atmosphere so you may not want to visit if you don't know your companion quite well.

Overall, this was a lovely dining experience and I would recommend highly to anyone - I can completely understand why this is Glasgow's no. 1 restaurant on Trip Advisor!
