Description: Curry devotees have been worshipping at the temple of Ashoka since the 80s. This, the chains Glasgow South Side branch, was created to appease folk from south of the river who loved the brand but hated the travel. Boasting an interior with a Last Days of the Raj meets style bar look, Ashoka has the kind of atmosphere which appeals more to bhuna babes than the middle aged lads on a rampage who frequent your average curry house. The interior may be pared down but the menu is packed with Indian favourites as well as house specialities, leaving even decisive diners with a difficult decision to make.

Met friends recently at our favourite Indian restaurant.
We all decided to try something completely different and spoke with Raj who guided us so patiently through the various choices we made.
Thanks to his advice I tried the Chicken Kebab with a very unusual sauce, called Kurkan, ,served separately. It was amazing.
It really pays to ask for advice when not sure what to try.
We are never disappointed with the food nor the service at the Ashoka Southside.
Deeraj is an incredibly talented and very gracious chef.We love his food.
The only problem is that he has spoiled us for any other Indian cooking.
The staff were attentive but not obtrusive
It was a perfect evening.

Friend and I enjoyed a fabulous meal at a great price through a pre booking site. Fish starter is a must and rarely seen on menus portion was three medium sized fillets seasoned to perfection served with complementing sauces. My Indian vegetable korma was very tasty and delicious.
Staff were very knowledgeable about ingredients and preparation of dishes so we were expertly guided by Raj in choosing dishes to suit our palate.
We ate early evening and the restaurant was busy all night, but with adequate friendly staff to attend to all. Still believe this is one of the best Indian restaurants in the Southside, never disappoints.

Went to the Ashoka Southside for the first time last Friday evening. What a wonderful reception we received from our waiter Raj who was extremely helpful, friendly and gave great advice in relation to the vast array of choices from the menu. His advice was spot on with our selections. This is by far one of the best curries we have had in a long long time. Will certainly pay a return visit to the restaurant and look forward to meeting Raj and the staff again. Thanks again for a fantastic night.

10 of us on our first visit to this restaurant .Food was excellent ,just what we ordered.
The service was first class.
A recommendation has to go to Raj our excellent host who guided us through the menu and advised us on what to order according to our individual tastes.
My husband and I decided to try an extra hot madras which was magnificent but not for the faint hearted ! Absolutely loved it !
Would whole hearttedly recommend a visit to this Indian restaurant .
Everyone enjoyed their meal which was evident by the number of clean plates at the end of the night.

We were 6 last week at The Ashoka,(not my first time). Raj recommended dishes by asking if we liked 'fish, meat or veg', 'chicken, lamb or beef', 'hot and spicy or more mild' ' dry, creamy or saucy' etc to help make a choice. He rightfully advised on the number of portions for naan (Very good) ,starters and rice etc , so as not to order too much, as is often the case.

The food was delicious : starters were a mix of pakora ( haggis and fish), with lovely popadums and accompanying sauces. Mains were served in individual cast iron pots that kept the curry hot throughout the meal. The choice of mains is extensive with fab newcomers.

Great service, nice ambiance and fab food !
