“Best Italian food we have ever had”
Reviewed August 13, 2013

Let me start my review by saying my husband and I are from South Africa and we travel extensively. Whilst visiting Glasgow, we had read on TA that La Lanterna was worth a visit, so we went there on Saturday night. Oh my word - it was such a wonderful surprise to find such a welcoming, warm and inviting restaurant, in terms of ambience and staff. But then we ordered our food and found to our delight that it was outstanding. I cannot rave about this restaurant enough. The minestrone soup was out of this world, as was the seafood pasta and the lasagne was truly the best I have ever eaten - beating Italy itself in the flavours. This restaurant is such a treat. You have to experience it for yourself.

“Saturday visit to la lanterna”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

We two couples came through from stirling by bus purely to have a meal at la laterna on hope street. Simply a fantastic meal great wine and we were waited upon by a lovely young lady out of Brasil but with a Portuguese dad, unfortunately we did not get her name. We had their winter menu in August. Great food great value and great crac. A fantastic day made possible by all at la laterna and a great adventure using the bus card for the first time. The restaurant was busy at 17-30 when we arrived and continued to be busy even when we left. We are sure that with the standards set with the owners over years their great food and value along with staff who were terrific we will visit again.
Thank you la laterna

“Best restaurant in Glasgow”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

The restaurant was a fantastic place to dine. The steak was great and everything else was cooked perfectly. I was expecting to be paying over £100 for the two of us which both had three courses and drinks but was shocked when it came to £65! Would fully recommend, will be returning!

“Romantic with excellent food”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

Had the best pasta e'fagoli that we have ever had. Manager was excellent and remembered us two nights later when we came in. Made sure that when he saw our name that the wine was chilled and ready for us when we arrived for dinner. Portion sizes were large. We enjoyed all entrees and deserts that we ordered.

“Read the reviews, they were true, it is outstanding”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

For late lunch on a Saturday as Texans new to Glasgow, relied upon Trip Advisor. We tried the spaghetti bolognese, it was the best I've had since Rome last year. Every item tasted wonderful. The bride had a beautiful 3 course meal at a great price. 1st course: Insalata caprino, salad and mild bell peppers with grilled goat cheese on top(excellent), 2nd course: Cannelloni alla Sorrentina (fantastico), Dessert course: Creme brulee, perfect. Service a little slow as they turned a trainee waitress on us. But overall friendly and pleasant. Nice environment, although it was a basement restaurant. I continue the many TripAdvisor recommendations.
