I have stayed at the Lorne on a couple of occasions before and had found it to be a reasonably priced hotel in a convenient area. I had read the recent poor reviews, but as I have had good experiences before decided to book again. I wont make the same mistake again. The corridors were a little run down, but we hadnt paid a fortune so that could be overlooked. Our room overlooked a flat roofing area with a view of lager bottles presumably deposited by other guests. We were also in a room with an adjoning door to the next door room, which caused the majority of our problems. There was no soundproofing AT ALL - our neighbours were not noisy but we were able to hear all details of conversation, bathroom activities, TV channels etc. We spent the night with ears blocked with tissues and the next morning with whispering voices. To report the problem during the night would have been obvious to our neighbours (they would have heard) and as I have said they were not being noisy. We were not asked about our stay on check out as I would have raised the problem then - perhaps the receptionist decided not to raise the issue judging on the room number.

Room Tip: Not adjoining

Modern clean rooms and a very good breakfast all at a reasonable price ideal budget hotel. Friendly helpful staff and a good central location. I was in Glasgow on business and would definitely stay here again.

We got a deal on glasgow great deals.
The hotel was nice overall, our room was clean, was a good size for a overnight but it was basic.
Breakfast was buffet style and you can order a full cooked breakfast as well.
Only fault i had was with one member of staff, I believe she was the bar manager she was just rude, and they way she spoke to poeple (including her staff) in front of other was total uncalled for! She tried to speak to me like that & I was not having it as I work in a bar, and know you have to be nice to customers even if you are having a bad day!
Appart from the bar I would recommend this hotel

I was a guest at the wedding in the Lorne Hotel Staurday 26 January and what a fantastic night all the guest had (over 200 people), never heard anyone say anything bad about the staff or food (Well Done Frank and all the staff).

I also had read some of the reviews from previous guest and was a bit apprehensive about what our room would be like, that dissappeared once we opened the door , it was a good size big room and comfortably slept 3 people
also spoke to quite a few of the other members of the wedding party who stayed and all of them seemed to be happy with their rooms, yes one did say it was quite small, however like the previous person said it did the job, the room was comfortable and had everything you would need for an overnight stay.

Breakfast was a buffet breakfast and again had something for everyone for yoghurts and fruit to sausage and bacon.

Although we where there for a particular reason the Lorne Hotel is in a great location for a great night out in Glasgow's West End or Town for that matter, lots of nice restaurants round about or you could try the Indian Restaurant attached to the Hotel as the food their is fab.

I don't normally right revies in trip advisor, however I did feel some of the previous comments where unjustified. So Once again thanks for a great night on Saturday and the happy couple now off on their Honeymoon.

Room Tip: our room was on the fourth foloor to the front, this is a main road however didn't find it a pro...

We stayed at the Lorne Hotel, on the first of December 2012 as part of an organised coach trip. My parents went to their room which smelled foisty. They thought that perhaps it was because the room hadn't been used for a couple of days. After dinner they returned to their room to find that the room actually stank of sewerage. The air conditioning units were also directly outside their room window and were making an awful noise. When they went downstairs to complain, there was a very rude young man on reception who just couldn't care less. After much talking to he offered them a drink! (The last thing they wanted after being made sick smelling sewerage) Eventually the manager came and agreed that they couldn't stay in that room as it was so terrible. The room they put them in instead was worse!! The bed was broken so when they both got into bed they rolled in to the middle. Upon opening the curtains they realised the staff had tried to hold the window together with towels! The draws were broken and the bath was filthy. By this time it was now 3.30am and they were extremely tired, so just had to put up and shut up. Even though we have complained to both the hotel and the coach firm we havent even had a reply!!

Room Tip: Only good room I found was a single!

Thank you so much to Frank the general manger and all the staff at the Lorne!! We booked this hotel for my daughters 21st party on the 5th January 2013 where we had family from all over the UK and Eire coming to stay. I panicked after booking to read some of the bad reviews but in no time at all Frank had explained it was one tour group that had aired their views which explained the inconsistent reviews on Expedia which were good.

We had the most amazing weekend here from Thursday to Sunday checkout the O'leary and Mccreadie party were looked after from breakfast, drinks, the finest cocktails, curry, 3 course meal for a party of 40 ( the food and service was perfect) the dj, the set up Franks hosting experience showed. we could not fault anything !

Well done Frank we will definitely recommend you and will be back again soon !

Room Tip: There is no parking facilities however street parking right outside has no restrictions over the wee...

A group of us stayed in the Lorne Hotel on hogmanay and were very pleasantly suprised by the standard of accommodation after reading some poor reviews. We weren't disappointed at all. We were greeted friendly at the welcoming reception. Lovely modern interior. Unfortunately there was no car parking so we had to park on street, luckily we only had to pay a few pounds.

Location is great for reaching West End and city centre on foot, by car or bus.

Our room was very small but had everything we needed, nice, clean and modern. It had hair dryer, lcd mounted tv, iron and ironing board. It also had air con which was good as the room got quite hot.

The restaurant looked nice but we never dined there for our evening meal, however, we did sample the delicious cocktails in the bar - fantastic martinis, mojitos and daquiris although quite pricey and slow service but worth it! The breakfast was OK, nothing special but good value for the price we paid. We would definitely return.
