I have stayed at the Lorne on a couple of occasions before and had found it to be a reasonably priced hotel in a convenient area. I had read the recent poor reviews, but as I have had good experiences before decided to book again. I wont make the same mistake again. The corridors were a little run down, but we hadnt paid a fortune so that could be overlooked. Our room overlooked a flat roofing area with a view of lager bottles presumably deposited by other guests. We were also in a room with an adjoning door to the next door room, which caused the majority of our problems. There was no soundproofing AT ALL - our neighbours were not noisy but we were able to hear all details of conversation, bathroom activities, TV channels etc. We spent the night with ears blocked with tissues and the next morning with whispering voices. To report the problem during the night would have been obvious to our neighbours (they would have heard) and as I have said they were not being noisy. We were not asked about our stay on check out as I would have raised the problem then - perhaps the receptionist decided not to raise the issue judging on the room number.
