I was suprised to find there are no elevators in this hotel so I had to drag my suitcase up 2 floors of a steep staircase. If you have heavy luggage, this is not the place to stay. Also, there was no hot water for a shower; in fact is was freezing cold not even tepid. Also, there was very limited or no heat in the room during the day and only a modest amount of heat at night. I guess they are economizing and saving eneregy but it doesn't make for a very comfortable stay. I would look elsewhere.

Room Tip: Stay on the first floor and take a shower by 7 am.

The hotel is located in a 1 & 2nd floor Listed Building, we could not put a lift in even if we wanted to , however a member of staff is always on duty and will assist with luggage when required.
As far as the hot water/heating goes, for 2 days it was very erratic and we brought in our heating engineers who replaced the boilier. Things do break down from time to time, it is all part of life, we could not predict what was going to happen with the boiler, all we could do was react to the problem and fix it.

Fantastic small hotel. Shame about the showers either being roasting hot or freezing cold! Otherwise, staff are accommodating. Decor was fresh and the rooms were spotless. Great location, close 2 tow . Definitely stay here again.

The acorn hotel is in a great location for central Glasgow. It was clean and tidy. The staff were helpful and pleasant. A few things could have improved the Acorn Hotel for me. The shower water temperature could only be described as tepid in the evening. I had read other reviews which mentioned this so it was not unsurprising but very disappointing especially on a cold winters day. The water in the am was warmer but if you like a hot shower you wouldnt have got it. The breakfast was ok the best bit being the perfectly poached egg , however better quality china would not have gone amiss particulary in a hotel described as boutique. Utilitarian and not far removed from village hall crockery was used. Presented with a sachet of nescafe coffee to make breakfast coffee again very disappointing - doesnt cost much to have filter coffee. Overall it was good.

Have stayed at the Acorn once before so was more than happy to stay again. The location is perfect for just about everything in Glasgow- easy walk through kelvingrove park to the west end, very short walk away from sauchiehall street and about a 10-15 minute walk to Buchanan street.

The check in was quick- we arrived early and thought we would just be able to leave our bags but were able to get into our room straight away. The man who checked us in was really friendly and helpful.

The room was quite large with everything you would need including ghd straighteners. The bathroom was huge and had a great shower and even had a tv in the shower!

Will be back for a 3rd visit at some point!

We stayed two nights at this hotel and agree with most of the comments made by previous guests. Yesterday morning at 8:30 a.m. there was no hot water in the shower. The concierge explained that there were a number of guests in the hotel owing to a conference and suggested we, "give it
20 minutes." Ninety minutes later the water was still cold or, perhaps more accurately, tepid. This morning we experienced exactly the same situation. There is something wrong with a hotel that is unable to supply hot water in the morning so that its guests can take a shower. We won't be back.

Nice little hotel, about a 15 minute walk from the centre of Glasgow. My room was clean and pleasant, and reception staff very friendly. Nice to have toiletries in the bathroom and hairdryer/straighteners. The only problem I had was the paper thin walls; there is no sound proofing at all and I could hear the people in the next room like there was no wall there. Fine if you bring ear plugs!

The rooms are neat and nicely furnished with comfortable beds but the shower had very little water pressure rendering it totally inadequate. Breakfast was a let-down with the sausages and black pudding being very obviously cheap produce, if I stayed again I wouldn't pay the extra for breakfast.

Aside from those negatives the staff were very helpful and friendly and a credit to the hotel

We are sorry your stay at the Acorn was not as comfortable as you would have wished. With regard to the problem with the water pressure in the shower, we are undertaking a review of the hot water system at the moment which should address any problems like that. We take note of your comments regarding the sausages for breakfast and are currently trialling different makes etc with a view to changing them.
