“Fantastic Location!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2012

Loved, loved, loved this flat! The location couldn't be more perfect....close to sights, restaurants, and shopping..all within a block. Very clean and comfortable, as well as secure. The parking was a few blocks away, but we didn't mind the walk and the car was in a safe underground garage. Since there were 4 of us, we liked having 2 bathrooms. Larger than we expected. Very easy to rent compared to other places there. We would definitely stay here again! Our flight arrived early in the morning and Ronnie was very accommodating. This place is a jewel in the city.

  • Liked — the location
  • Disliked — the washer/dryer...all one unit and kind of complicated to work

My husband and I stayed at Lomond Mews for a week with our infant son. The unit provided more than enough space for us … A self-contained house with two bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (1 en-suite), a kitchen / diner and living room. The location is also great… only a short walk to shopping, restaurants, etc.
The house is very well appointed with everything you’d need for the kitchen, as well as all the necessary appliances (dishwasher, washing machine, etc.). Advice for those with young kids: keep in mind is that the living room and kitchen are in the upstairs of the house, with the bedrooms downstairs, so it was necessary to buy something to block of the stairs so our son wouldn’t go down the stairs.
Our only other complaint is that the house is very poorly soundproofed (both from room to room as well as upstairs to downstairs) with very creaky floors. Our son goes to bed much earlier than my husband and I, and we had to be very careful to not make too much noise moving around in the living room, as it would otherwise wake him up. This wouldn’t have been a problem if it weren’t for the fact that our son goes to sleep before us. Otherwise, a great stay… I’d highly recommend Lomond Mews.

We have stayed here several times on our regular visits from Australia. Ronnie is a great host and always welcomes you with a smile (despite the sometimes wet weather!). Location is great, parking, close to the M8 and a short walk into the City. A few supplies are always provided which makes it simple before we have to go and stock up.

We relocated the family Christmas get-together to Glasgow when DinL got "shifted" with hospital duties locally. We needed somewhere that could sleep 5 adults, but have 9+ to Christmas Day. No 7 fitted the bill admirably. Spotlessly clean, beautifully warm. Off-street parking for 2 cars. 3 mins to the motorway. Fast wireless internet access. 4 mins walk to the shops and supermarkets. Near to the city centre but no street or people noise. Ideal for small children as one stairgate kept them in the lounge but still visible from the kitchen. Instant continuous hot water, so no fights over who has a bath/shower. Dining table in kitchen area expanded to seat 8. It felt a very safe place to venture out from and to in the evening. The beds (at least the one I tried) were very comfortable - I'd been having trouble getting to sleep before travelling but slept like the proverbial log here.

Two very minor problems we reported were dealt with promptly and efficiently by the ever-considerate Ronnie.

I could see that it would work very well for those using public transport, but it would be hard to beat for those using cars, too.

All in all, it worked very well indeed. I suspect that we will be back again, next time DinL pulls a Christmas shift...

Room Tip: Number 11 has a bit wider and easier parking, right next to the door!

Stayed here with 3 friends, originally meant to be 5 of us but 1 couldn't make it. Perfect size accomodation for 4-6 people, really handy for the underground transport and for the city centre. Apartment was clean and had everything you could need for the weekend (washing machine, iron, hairdryer, kitchen with good size fridge, freezer, dishwasher and fully stocked with crockery, pots and pans etc. Ronnie the owner was really helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Will definitely be back to stay again.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2011

We were given Lomond Mews as a temporary apartment, when our own flat developed a terrible leak and major repair work had to be carried out. As I work from home, I needed somewhere quiet, clean, functional and in a decent area, so that normal life could continue as undisrupted as possible. This apartment delivered on every level and beyond.
With a very quaint, almost Swiss-chalet style feel to the place, we felt instantly relaxed and comfortable. It is really spacious, with two generously-sized bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with 2 singles. There are also 2 bathrooms - one ensuite to the double bedroom with a shower, the other separate and with a bath and shower attachment. The bedrooms and bathrooms are on the ground floor.
The kitchen is well-stocked with saucepans, dishes and crockery etc so you can easily cook there. It also has a washing machine and dishwasher, as well as a dining table and chairs. The living room has 2 sofas, one of which pulls out to a sofa bed if required. It also comes with free Wi-Fi and cable television. The apartment is serviced weekly, including fresh bed linen and towels. There's parking space too, if you've hired a car.
As well as the general comfort of the apartment, another real plus is how close you are to everything. A couple of minutes walk and you are on Sauchiehall Street - turn left and head towards Buchanan Street and all the shops; turn right and hit Charing Cross. From there, if you enjoy a pleasant stroll, you can walk through Kelvingrove Park to end up in Glasgow's leafy West End. If you want to head west but don't fancy the walk, 2 minutes from the apartment is Cowcaddens "tube" station (or "the clockwork orange" as it's known locally!) which will get you to Hillhead station on the Byers Road in next to no time. There you'll find some lovely cafes, pubs and restaurants.
For foodies - just around the corner to the apartment, in Buccleuch Street, is the famous Wee Curry Shop restaurant - one of Glasgow's finest Indian restaurants. You can have a wonderful curry and literally be back home in under 5 minutes. No need for cab fares! For some traditional Scottish fare, you should really try the Willow Tea Rooms, designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. There's one on Buchanan Street, one on Sauchiehall Street - they do a wonderful Arbroath smokie!
For art & architecture lovers - again just 2 minutes walk from the apartment and you'll find yourself on Renfrew Street, home to the esteemed Glasgow School of Art, again with Rennie Mackintosh designed buildings. There's also the CCA - Centre for Contemporary Arts, which has a good mix of events plus a great bar as well.
For film buffs - as well as a large multiplex nearby, there's the wonderful little Glasgow Film Theatre in Rose Street, showing indie and World cinema titles.
We walked everywhere while staying here as everything we needed was so close and "just around the corner"!! Because the apartment is set back a couple of streets from the busy Sauchiehall Street however, it is always nice and quiet and you are protected from the noise of weekend revellers leaving the pubs and clubs. Very important!
Being a self-catering apartment, it was important to have supermarkets close by too. There's a little Tesco and Sainsbury's local very nearby and also a Marks and Spencer foodhall.
There are some great pubs in Sauchiehall street too. One of our favourites was the Variety, great for some retro cool and serving a great wheat beer to boot!
May sound silly, but when we got the call to say the leak was fixed, there was a part of me that felt really sad to have to leave. I'd grown so fond of the apartment and being so close to everything. Ah well, all good things...as they say!
I would really recommend it to any visitor to the city who prefers the 'home from home' experience over hotels. You get the best of both worlds here - the closeness of Glasgow's vibrant city centre and the quiet, comfort needed for when you want to switch off and relax.

Stayed here in Feb 2010 with large family group from USA for a week for a reunion (I'm Glasgow born). Rented two of the apts - end units. One end unit was great ...the other needed extra cleaning, change of furniture and kitchen essentials - all of which were taken care of when we contacted Ronnie to inform him that the place wasn't up-to-standard.....Handy parking and within walking distance to public transport and shopping areas. Wi-fi access available. Very pleasant stay.
