Description: The Osprey in Newton Mearns is a country pub & restaurant oozing rural charm and rustic character. Our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

“The Osprey”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

Had lunch with overseas friend here recently. First impression through the outside table area was marred by an overflowing rubbish bin, with various pieces of litter scattered through the bushes. Not nice.
Lunch itself was adequate : I had trout covered in a cheesy topping with a tasty side salad, my friend chose Toad in the Hole. The service was excellent, though one has to be aware that you place your own order at the bar.My friend was not particularly impressed, and I won't be rushing back. There are many good eateries in the area, so the Osprey will have to pull its socks up and at least attend to the outdoor area.

“scruffy and expensive for below average pub grub”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

popped in for a quick bite easter weekend.
drunk lady sitting at table next to me was swearing and loud, i thought someone would have spoken to her as there were a lot of children about. Food was pricey and not very tasty and you pay extra for special chips which are NORMAL CHIPS the veg selection was poor. tasteless butterbeans and peas. Will not be back ever.

“Traditional Scottish Fare in a Lovely Setting”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

The restaurant is in a converted stable on a large parcel of land, about 40 minutes from Glasgow Center. The servers are efficient and friendly, the food is authentic and great tasting, and the bar is a good one. We had 14 people to dinner after a Civil Union and it came to about $700.00 US, including meals, deserts, and drinks (quite a few). We made our reservations from home in Florida on the PC.

“On seconds thoughts. .”
Reviewed March 25, 2013 via mobile

Dined here for the first time in January and left a good review. Went back this weekend and was really disappointed. Not much chicken in the chicken pie, a huge dome of pastry hiding a great deal of nothing inside, overpriced, lacklustre puddings. Sorry, but I don't think we'll be back

“Rare Bird”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

The Osprey is a well protected bird and this reastaurant named after it offer a very tradional Farm House setting with excellent food. We have been eating here with friends & family for many years when it was standing on its own in the country .Unfortunately with the urban spread of new Houses & Supermarkets it now is not so isolated but lost none of its charm.

Plenty of seating & easily ordering system with your numbered wooden spoon the link to your table.

Great at anytime Lunch or Dinner....& eating outside in the summer is a treat Our most recent visit as good as ever with great menu choice where we could easily have picked six or seven choices with no problem. We will just have to keep going back. Recently refurbished it is clean, modern with great seating areas & choices of Beers.Well worth a visit
