“Great place for a drink”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2014

Great atmosphere, staff know their whiskey! Really lovely spot to have a dram or a pint and a chat. Does get very busy in the evenings but you still won't feel rushed at the bar - if you have a budget just let them know they'll find a whiskey you'll like :)

“Stopped in for an authentic drink”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2014

read the reviews and came here for an ale and a whiskey. They know their whiskey here! Just ask the bartender for a recommendation and you'll get something good. Absolutely the most authentic pub we visited in Glasgow. My mother had been here about 5 years earlier and recommended it to us. You should give it a try too!

“Great selection of booze”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 29, 2014

Dropped in for a couple of pints and a couple of whiskies last night - all good stuff. A tremendous selection of beers and malts are on offer, and the staff couldn't be more helpful. They seem very enthusiastic and know their stuff. Didn't try the food, although I was sorely tempted by the Scotch pie & beans for £1.70.

“Cosy and great selection”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2014 via mobile

Fantastic range of whiskies available here. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Was bamboozled by the amount of whiskies on offer so asked for a recommendation and the girl behind the bar happily obliged. They know their stuff in here.

There was food on offer, just basic pies, bridies with beans/peas but for me that's perfect pub grub.

“Whisky Galore”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 22, 2013

This wee howff on Hope Street always had a good reputation for drink and hospitality. The current management have, however, turned it into something of a mandatory destination for those who are serious about their ales and/or whisky.

It's a smart wee pub in the inside that oozes character and class, but it's probably the human side of the operation that is even more impressive. Staff have that way about them that makes customers feel at ease, and never too embarrassed to ask about matters relating to the wide range of beer and whisky. Last time I was in, I was able to wile away a couple of hours supping a stout from London, and got the chance to try legendary bottled Nigerian Guinness.

Oh, and then there's the food! Simple, wholesome and filling pub grub at a price that is incredibly good value; easy on the wallet and satisfying on the palate too!
