“Excellent roast!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013

We visited late Sunday afternoon with our 2 children following my husband trying to track down somewhere to find a nice roast dinner that wasn't buffet style. From the outside I was a little dubious however as soon as we entered we were made to feel welcome and the staff were keen to meet the needs of our children despite there not being a children's menu. The decor is simply delightful. You felt as though you were somewhere special without it being too over the top and pretentious. The art work for sale on the walls was fabulous. We went for the sunday lunch menu. I had the ravioli with spinach which was lovely and just enough for a starter my husband had the prawn cocktail which he said was simple but good quality. The roast was the best I've had! The roast of the day was sirloin which came with roast/ mash potatoes, carrots, turnip and peas with a homemade yorkshire pudding and homemade horseradish sauce which was just superb. Everything was delicious and was made to order i.e. beef cooked rare etc. both of us couldn't believe how good it was and were waiting to steal the leftovers from our daughter's plate who had a smaller portion. My son had a starter portion of pasta which was a good size and he nearly finished it which is a definite complement. For sweet we had the chocolate fudge cake to share which was lovely and just enough to finish of our meal. All in all a lovely meal with good service and gorgeous surroundings. I would recommend this place to everyone but to families with older children as it is as the kids said 'fancy' we will be back!

“Great Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2013

The interior of this place is really nice, atmospheric and warm with unusual decor.
The menu is wide but contains all the kind of stuff I like to order.
Wine menu is not massive but good variety, we had a bottle of marvelous Amarone.
All had starters of Haggis which was superb, served with a great sauce.
I had venison which was cooked to perfection, other mains were equally well received.
Sides of spinach and mashed/new potatoes were great.
Desert of ice cream with berries was also very good.

Staff were nice and came back regularly.

Would definitely recommend and would go back.

“Enjoyed my lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 8, 2013

Had lunch here on Saturday as a welcome break during a shopping trip. We ate from the set lunch menu - 3 courses £12.95. This was excellent value for money. The choice was varied and the food very tasty. Portions were not huge as expected but served our needs well.
The restaurant was very busy but we never felt rushed.
My only issue was the member of staff behind the bar who spent most of his shift eating olives - not good. However I would eat here again

“Excellent pre-theatre dining”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013

I googled 'Restaurants near City Halls' and Guy's was one of the selections; having studied the website and forwarded it on to friends a booking was made for a pre-theatre (concert actually) dinner at 5:15pm. When we arrived the place was almost empty, however our coats were taken, we were shown to our table and menus handed out, both the Pre-theatre and the A la carte. By this time the restaurant was getting full and very buzzy. We chose from both menus, and interestingly the portions of Prawn Cocktail were definitely larger from the A la carte menu but then they were more expensive. My main course of Veal was delicious, as was the other choices of my companions viz. Sole and Rump of lamb. All the food we had was beautifully presented. The wine list was excellent, as was the service. The staff were knowledgeable, discreet, did not rush us in any way and seemed to know instinctively when to get our coats for us! We will most definitey be back next time we are in Glasgow.

“New York style Glasgow pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013

Love the atmosphere in this restaurant/pub and it has a very "old New York restaurant" vibe. Food is excellent quality and they serve until quite late. Especially like the seats round the bar which do give it that New York feel and it seems you can reserve a seat at the bar after you have been for a meal. Its not cheap but you really do get what you pay for in terms of food and if you cant afford the meal you could always just go for a drink and to soak up the atmosphere. Great entertainment all night from a duo of ladies (one singing and one playing piano). Just loved it and would definately be back.
