“Excellent Food, Stunning Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2013

Visited this restaurant for the first time yesterday. It was a beautiful sunny day so it was delightful being able to sit out on the terrace and watch the sun glistening on the fast flowing River Clyde. A great view of the river and the "Squiggly Bridge".

The menu has loads of choice and I could have eaten almost any of the dishes on offer. I chose a salad of Grilled Halloumi and Roasted Mediterranean Vegetables and it was absolutely excellent. My partner chose a Grilled Goats Cheese Crostini and it too was excellent. We both chose Monkfish for our main course and, once again, the standard of the food and the presentation of the dish was first class.

Service was friendly and efficient. Prices are reasonable. Location hard to beat. The only negative was the coffee - I would give that a miss the next time I visit this restaurant. And I certainly will visit again as it was a really great dining experience.

Dear Charles M

Thank you for such a positive review and scoring of 5/5!

We have introduced a number of salads this year and they are proving to be very popular.

Our location beside the Squinty Bridge at the SECC offers fantastic views in an informal relaxing environment.

Kind Regards
Brian

“Quick drink and meal outdoors”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2013

Stopped here for a drink in the sunshine after a day's cruising on The Waverley decided to have a bite to eat too. Waiter was very attentive and offered refills of drinks, brought menus etc. I had fish and chips which was lovely but the portion size was small for the £12 charged.

Dear Gordonm2

Thank you for your review.

I am delighted you found the service to be attentive and quick, the fantastic weather has driven huge demand to our riverside outdoor seating and the team are working extremely hard in challenging conditions.

It is disappointing that the portion size was not to your satisfaction, I will ensure this is shared with our head chef.

Kind Regards
Brian

“Totally disappointed in this restaurant”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2013 via mobile

Waited 1 hour before we got our main course ( apparently the machine in the kitchen had run out of paper) glasses were lifted away without even being asked if we wanted another drink. We waited another 20 mins before having to ask for a sweet menu...took ages to actually get the sweet. Had to ask for the bill twice and when it came we were overcharged £5... When i queried it the restaurant manager said"yes, thats wrong" brought me the correct bill..no apology at all.
The people on the next table had the same experience. Food was average. Took 2 hours for 2 courses...not my idea of good service at all. I did complain at the front desk...I await with interest to see if I get any response ....

Dear junieclooney

Thank you for your review.

Please accept my apologies for not exceeding your expectations on this occasion.

The recent extended period of hot weather has put the team under pressure with demand stretching our capacity to provide the service we aim to achieve.

We have now put corrective action in place and are limiting the number food orders to ensure we deliver the service expected.

We strongly advise booking in advance to ensure availability.

I am sorry that you felt the manager did not apologise for the billing error.

Kind Regards,
Brian

“Cafe Cafe”

Pretty average , gives impression of travel inn type of establishment, it's redeeming factor is location on the River Clyde which can be enjoyed on the riverside on the deck when the sun shines

Dear VIncent210949

Thank you for your review.

It is difficult to determine if you have eaten in the restaurant or stayed in the hotel?

Thank you for highlighting our riverside terrace, one of the few places in Glasgow where you can enjoy a freshly prepared meal outdoors.

Kind Regards,
Brian

“A poor meal”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2013

I have visited this hotel before and used the bar, it was fine, service was good and place was clean and tidy and generally well run and bar staff look after all the customers well. This time we went for food. It was appalling. The service was at all stages excellent, both for the drinks brought and the actual service. The value for the meal was disgraceful, as was its quantity. Let me begin by stating what was there was absolutely fine and if one is on a diet, this is the place to go, you will lose pounds. the actual food i had was not bad, just id like food, not decoration. £12 for a slice of lasagna that was about 6cm x 6cm x 12cm is ridiculous, no wonder the restaurant was quiet aside from a party that were clearly "all inclusive". perhaps therein lies the answer, perhaps the hotel caters for bed breakfast and dinner. As an external user the value is poor. A lasagna with some leaves as garnish is NOT my idea of £12 of food. The fish was equally as small, and was NOT fresh, chips there was about 8 and fish was clearly frozen food or old stock. Sorry Hilton NIL points. Wont eat here thank you.
