Helpful, friendly and considerate owners. Comfortable and clean room. Great breakfast. Fair value. All you could ask from a St Andrews B&B.

Hard to imagine a better experience. 4 of us (2 dads and 2 sons - 18 & 19). From the first contact over the internet, until the day we left, this was one of the more enjoyable and comfortable places I've stayed. As everyone else points out, Trevor and Jacque are wonderful hosts. From the fabulous breakfasts (even the haggis was pretty good), to the recommendations for restaurants and golf, to just the good fellowship, they were the best.

On the "technical" side, the place is very comfortable with adequate, up to date furnishings. Bathrooms are fairly new and very clean and the rooms are a good size. Steps are steep and quite of few, particularly if you're going to the 3rd floor, but that's to be expected. Location is superb. Across the street from Ziggy's - a very good and relatively reasonably priced place for dinner and a couple of pints, and walking distance to both the courses and to downtown.

No, Brownlees won't be confused with the Ritz (or the Old Course Hotel), but it provides so much more - built in family. We'd go back in a heartbeat.

If you are a golfer, this is the place for you! Location, location, location! A 2-3 minute walk around the corner to the Old Course! Further, Trevor (your host) is a golfer himself, he gave us excellent local tips, called vaious courses on our behalf, and dried out our water logged gear and shoes. Add to this both of their friendly attitudes, very nice rooms for their age, good showers, Jackies home made jam to go with Trevors BIG breakfasts, it was a delight to stay there! Only complaint is that I missed one of Trevor's breakfast due to playing the Old Course early!

Well worth a look if you appreciate the "personal touch" from hosts!
