“A Great Working Break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2013

I am a carer for an older man with learning difficulties and this is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. All the staff were friendly/helpful and made us feel very welcome at all times, nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in the family room (215) which had a kingsize bed, 2 single beds, a shower/bath and most importantly for us a separate wet floor shower area. The room is large, faces onto the back of the hotel and it was comfortable and very clean. The bar at night is very busy and has a great lively atmosphere, but once we were settled in our room for the night we did not hear a thing. A fantastic breakfast each morning and the selections were excellent. Thank you very much for a great stay and we hope to visit again.

Enjoyed a super meal here recently. We were a party of 5 and everybody was pleased with their meal choices, even hubby who opted for the chilli and finally found that after being described as 'hot', it actually was, very rare in his opinion. The service was excellent, all staff were attentive. We asked for a different table initially but they weren't at all phased by this and were more than happy to move us. Very pleasant atmosphere, the segregation of the bar and restaurant means that the tv sports coverage doesn't drown out conversations in the dining area. Large and small portions are available for a selection of courses, I went for small as I remember from another occasion that small is still quite a hefty portion. The rump steak was mouthwateringly tender! Look forward to going back.

I stayed in the hotel after hearing rave reviews from a friend. I am happy to say that I was not disappointed- we had a great time! Right from the start everything will top notch. We were warmly greeted at check in, then found the room to be spacious, clean, with everything that you could ask for. As for entertainment, the weather was horrible so we did not want to venture out, but the bar and restaurant kept me perfectly happy! Great friendly service and great food from a great menu. We will definitely be returning!

Just had a great stay at Greyfriars Hotel in St. Andrew's. The staff were very friendly, room was excellent, very clean and comfortable and the food served in the hotel was great.
We had a meal when we arrived and it was very good and the breakfast in the morning was excellent a very good choice.

Would definately go back there.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel are a wee bit noisy at night not with traffic but with noisey studen...

This was our first stay at Greyfriars, but it won't be our last! We've had the odd pint there over the years it has been open, but somehow it had slipped under the radar as far as accomodation is concerned. We have now rectified this and are very happy we did. The room was spacious with double aspect windows, clean and tastefully decorated. The shower was great and everything was acceptable and functional. We weren't eating 'in' so cannot comment on the evening food, but the breakfast was acceptable, although the coffee was somewhat weak - something we would simply ask to be stronger next time. We were lucky parking-wise and landed a space in the next door carpark. I can see this would be problematic and it's probably a minor negative when considering the Greyfriars, but there are plenty of nearby streets and something should turn up. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful and we were just sorry not to have had more time this visit to spend in the bar!

We have stayed at this hotel twice now and are booked again for April. This Hotel is in a very central location and the rooms are clean, modern and fantastic, really great facilities. Accomodation in St Andrews can be expensive but this hotel offers real value for money - there is also a caprak beside the hotel and wine bar on the ground floor. On both occasions our room has been right above this and noise has not been an issue. The welcome was friendly and we enjoyed a bit of "banter"! Book here before some of the more traditional local hotels and you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Don't know if ours was a family room but you could have played football in it! It looked out ove...

Popped in here for a quick lunch as it was pouring with rain and it was the first place we came across. Wish we had taken a bit more time to chose.
The food was really poor, the soup tasted like dishwater and the ham had more fat than meat
It was cheap though and it does prove you get what you pay for.
Wouldn't go back
