“Awful food with service to match”

Stopped here for a quick lunch mid week. Service was terrible - really slow even though the place was empty. Prices on the menu are an absolute rip-off, £11.95 for a frittata at lunchtime.........how ridiculous! Ended up just ordering starters. The potato skins were horrible when they arrived - instead of being topped with bacon and cheese they were swimming in a watery cheese sauce that contained tiny bits of pale ham. Drinks took an age to come and when they eventually arrived, the diet cokes we ordered were regular cokes - how can someone get that wrong when it's written down? The tables were sticky as were the menus - no real surprise. No wonder this place was empty! Will not be back!

Great location, we walked everywhere. To the golf course, where we played the putting course. St Andrews Cathedral and St Andrews Castle, very interesting sights to see. We walked around the town, and the university. We eat here as well, and the food is good. The rooms are modern, clean, and ample in size. Parking was easy, as we made several trips to the coastal towns back and forth.

Spent one night at this really friendly hotel. Very centrally located, clean, tidy and modern spacious room. Staff very helpful. Perfect location for a weekend in St Andrew's. Enjoyed lunch in the bar with decent beers on tap. Breakfast too was enjoyable with an extensive choice of hot food as well as the usual continental options. I note that others have mentioned noise but we were in room 317 and had a very peaceful night and a nice view over the town.

Room Tip: Room 317 was quiet, spacious and had an interesting roof shape as it was on the top floor

We throughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Very comfortable, relaxed and clean. Bedroom was spacious, bed of good quality and breakfast was good although very slow.

It is close to amenities and St Andrews is a delightful town with lots to see and do.

Booked 4 nights stay here, for 8 golfers in individual rooms. The manager, Jinty, really sold me on the place with her outstanding customer service. The rates were very good for St Andrews in high season, everything is convenient from the hotel, including the Old Course, parking, ATMs. and restaurants...all just seconds away. Rooms were clean, large, and very secure. With the bar and restaurant downstairs, it was like having our own private pub!!! The only downside was the noise from late night party people on the street outside, which only required me to close my room window to seal out the noise..I will stay here again....excellent stay and great customer service, especially Jinty, who is an absolute jewel....

Room Tip: My room overlooked the street, which made it more prone to street noise from the late night partiers...

My favourite hotel in St Andrews too, but I am aware of its limitations...

Noise: Depending on where your room is facing, you can get noise from the main road, the hotel bar, the "beer garden", the night club next door, revellers coming up from the beach (and the bottle bank?). The temptation is if you can't beat them then join them, but be prepared for early wakening by seagulls or departing golfers (for such a modern hotel the floorboards are surprising creaky)

Parking: spaces in the adjacent car park are not guaranteed but I have been lucky the last few times

Good points:
- what a great location on North Street
- rooms are clean and room service is great
- good breakfasts
- friendly staff like Steve, and a special word for general manager Jinty who is always nice to me

So an ideal place for good sleepers but anyone who truly wants peace and quiet will need their ear plugs

PS.one more thing, upon arrival you may not notice the room air conditioning is switched on - I always turn it off with the remote control
