Just back from 2 night stay in Greyfriars.
Check in a bit odd at end of bar, but overall OK. Superior double room was good size and had lovely bathroom. Decor in bedroom too dark as light already poor from small window.
Noise from above room very bad as you could hear every step across the floor in room overhead.
Had lunch 1 day and thought quality was poor but the continental breakfast next morning was worse. Selection of fruit consisted of 3 pieces-2 apples and an orange. A croissant which was crisp and broke in my hands. A small piece of individual wrapped cheese and 2 little pieces of ham! Couldn't eat it-awful!
Lovely location and free parking just beside it if you're lucky to get a spot.

My wife and I travelled to St Andrews for my brother's wedding and spent four nights at Greyfriars. From making our intial booking in February, the service we have received has been unquestionable. We have 2.5 year old twins and so decided to book a family room. The room was spacious and clean and the beds exceptionally comfortable.

I have stayed at various hotels in St Andrews on previous visits, but what sets Greyfriars apart is the lengths that the staff will go to accomodate your needs. The bar and restaurant staff are without doubt some of the friendliest I have met (especially when you consider the trail of destruction that 2 toddlers can leave in a restaurant). In our case even trying out child monitors from the bar in advance of our stay to ensure that the signal could be received. The night porter even made my wife a cup of tea to take away at 4am on the morning that we checked out.

We would also definitely recommend eating at the restaurant. The food is superb and the portions huge. The look of delight on our son's face when he received his cheescake with a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream bears testament to this.

Although we probably won't be visiting St Andrews in the near future, when we invariably do, we will definitely be staying at the Greyfriars.

Thanks for your lovely comment - we really appreciate it.

Glad to hear that you all enjoyed your stay. I will pass on your kind words to the staff.

I also have to agree with your son. Every time I order the Chessecake it makes me smile too!!

Nice spacious (de luxe) room in attic rather let down by cheap fixtures & finishes (eg - disposable plastic glasses in room - this is a pub with rooms after all)! Also overpriced (a frequent problem in St Andrews).

I was a bit concerned about booking this hotel as i was travelling with parents with reduced mobility but need not have worried. Lift to all floors and easy to use.
The staff were all excellent very helpful and friendly.
The rooms were large and spacious with easy access showers for my parents and they even had a shower chair for them to use.

Food of good quality and very reasonable price.

Our room was over looking the main road which could be a bit noisey for some but was fine for us.

I would book here again and reccomend it.

Very friendly, very safe, very comfortable, very attractive hotel. Wonderful location. Handy for everything. Lovely decor. Excellent parking (free). Definitely a boutique hotel to recommend and visit again. We were out partying till early hours of morning but hotel door was still open on our return and staff welcomed us back in. Thankyou everyone.

Stayed there on a golfing holiday with my family. Hotel was great and exceeded expectations. Bar was great; largest selection of beers and ales I have ever seen! By all means, put Greyfriars on the list!
